Need help from a Cingular rep (Please? I've gotten bad service)

Here's my problem:
I was an old TDMA user that needed to get a new phone. There was an offer for California residents (still in effect, check with my zip: 93105) at T-Mobile for 1,000 anytime minutes, 5,000 nights and weekends, and unlimited mobile to mobile -- all for $39.99.

I was about to buy, and leave Cingular, when I got this loyalty offer for 1,000 minutes at $39.99, which included all the same stuff. Awesome right? Well, no. I lost the darn promotion, and no one knew what I was talking about.

But then, a few weeks later I got ANOTHER promotion from Cingular. Unfortunately, this time NO nights and weekends. But I looked on Cingular's site, and they said you could add it for only $7.00 -- so I weighed the pros/cons (do I g...

Well I wish I could help but I work in the TDMA department. Maybe others can help. I have heard of that offer for $39.99 with 1000 daytime minutes, 5000 N&W minutes and Unlimited MTM minutes.

If anything wait until tomorrow morning when more people on the GSM side show up to respond.

BTW I swung by the T-Mobile website and was looking at their plans... which one are you looking at, the one for $45.99 gives 1000 daytime and Unlimited N&W minutes but NO MTM minutes. The plan for $39.99 gives 1000 daytime minutes and NO N&W or MTM minutes.

I think you might want to check the info again unless this was a special mailer sent out to you?

Thanks Link for the messages.

If you go to the Tmobile site you can login with my zip code: 93105 and see all their individual plans.

They have two $39.99 plans. The second on the list is a "1000 Promo" plan and has everything I mentioned.

I found out about it from a flyer they mailed me. It's been on and off their site for the past month. Apparently it's only in Southern California.

Have a good night!

I did that and it's showing 3 39.99 plans. The get more, get more 1000 and get more 1000 promo, but when I click on the details, it shows that m2m is N/A, but weeknight and weekend minutes are definetly unlimited.

Perhaps I'm missing something as well?

Put in buddy's zip code it is there but what he is not realizing he can only use that plan on t-mobiles network and not on any partnered carriers or any carrier with a roam agreement. it is even worse then ATTWS old national network that did let you use it sometimes in some expanded areas. The plan sounds good at first glance until you look at what the coverage area it is for the zip code the guy gave was 93105.

Oh god... I remember the goddamn national network. I don't think anyone was sad to see it go. Every second friggen call was "But my phone never SAID I was roaming!!! Give me credit now!!!" I totally wanted to quit. I'm glad I stuck through it.

yep an this mighty tmobile plan with 1000 min unlimited mtm and n&w for 39.99 would do the same it all on their network. If it sounds too good to be true then it generally is.

You guys are clueless... I work for T-Mobile. We DO NOT have different coverage maps for different plans, unless you are talking about prepaid. We don't ever charge for roaming, either. Anywhere you get service it is included. Right now certain west coast markets have 1000 minutes and unlimited nights and weekends for 39.99 a month. The rest of the country is 45.99 for the same thing. Unlimited M2M is 6.99 extra if you wish. Your most comparable plan is 59.99 for only 900 minutes. I know its contrary to the whole Cingular spirit, but you guys should try actually knowing what you are talking about once in a while. 😉

Ya that rate is a NATIONAL rate. No roaming/long distance fees, You can add m2m. And its not just SOCAL it is for most of the major western markets good until July 31st.

The reason we offering this in the west and not the east is because the east already had it avail a year ago or so.

I checked it out. Look at the coverage area for it. You MUST be on the T-Mobile network ONLY if you go off it's network you roam. if you use any other carriers network besides t-Mobiles you Roam. So you will get a lot of minutes but you can only use this on t-mobiles own netwo...

Is it the one that shows "BEST VALUE" in red? I looked into it and it shows in the MTM column, N/A. On the main section with all the offers, I see Whenever, then the next column says Weeknight then the 3rd says Weekend. The MTM column doesn't even show up until you click on the name of the plan.

And while the Two Towers is an awesome descriptor for a book, it's not good when it descrives your company's coverage.

Well, the minute thing really depends on your usage patterns. If you're using more than 450 daytime minutes, then your plans good. But if you use 450 or less, tkae the regular Nation 450 and get some N+W action.

The thing is, T-Mo can offer you minutes. Cingular can offer you coverage.

The trick to getting your desired rate plan is this. On the next full moon go to a local park wearing a Devo shirt, backwards ball cap, flip flops and a feather boa. Stand on one leg at exatcly 15 degrees NW for one full hour, no more, no less. At the one hour mark look at the moon and chant the incantation, "Klaatu, barada, nikto!" Immediately enter the lotus position and meditate for three days without food or drink. After witnessing your dev...

Not trying to bash T-Mobile but, my understanding for their higher offering on daytime minutes is because their MTM area sucks. They offer more daytime to persuade customer's they have they better offer.

If you honestly have more peeps on Cingular, the MTM promotion will work best for you. The rate plan issue does suck and I would do everything in my power to help but I am stuck in TDMA care.

also no offence, but you assumed the 7.00 feature that you saw on the website meant that you could add nights and weekends without getting any further clarification.....sorry, but thats the way the cookie crumbles

Yeah, you're right -- I should take some blame.

However, there are a few things a good rep should consider:
1. I received the 1,000 + N&W + M2M offer only a few weeks ago (so I knew it was "possible" to get N&W with a promo plan)
2. After I logged in to the site, the website says the N&W feature is "Available" to my account (heck, it even lets me agree to the terms of service and attempt to add it)
3. Nothing on the promotion flyer, nothing in the terms of service, nothing on the feature listing, say anything about not being able to add the feature
4. I'm not trying to get something for free -- I'm willing to pay to add the feature

It just seems that if Cingular wanted to be clear about prohibiting people from getting the N&W addit...

Have you ever heard of the "Black" or Centurion card from American Express?

If you answered no, then you are like most people including many within the AMEX community. It is a card for their super "A" list customers only. You can only get it by invite and if you call AMEX most reps have never heard of it or how to apply.

That plan is the same thing. If you lost the invite it is EXTREMELY difficult to get you the plan. It is not available to the general public so calling general customer service usually ends up at a dead end.

Also, and I am not sure if anyone else pointed this out, but the $7 feature you saw is to EXTEND your nights and weekends, not to add nights and weekends to a plan that doesn't have them.

I wish you luck,...

I can understand why'd you'd be frustrated by this situation. Had you been offered this plan by a rep I'd say you may have been misinformed. Judging by the fact that several of the reps above couldn't follow simple directions to look a plan up on the internet, I'd say it's QUITE possible.

However, you saying that you received a flyer. I'm not saying your lying but I don't think the flyer claimed exactly what you're saying it did. Working in the Retention Department I know what available promos there are to be offered. We do not have a plan with ALL the promos you stated.

As you've found out our plan doesn't include N&W minutes. I don't feel that makes it inferior to T-Mobile's plan. Reason being: You're not comparing apples to apples....

I have to applaud your description of the T-Mobile map! 😁

I think you have hit the nail on the head. The best thing this customer can do is realize what is most important and go with the carrier that can supply that. What is more important? Minutes or Coverage?

Both and once again this plan does not exist with MTM. The customer would benefit on Cingular because we can offer them better MTM use and coverage then any other carrier. PASTE the link of the rate plan here and prove me wrong PLEASE and not the page with all the plans, give me the link to the individual plan itself.

The plan isn't on the regular price plan page. It's inside the Save Team Matrix. Just go to the save team matrix and it's under "Save Team Guide To Rate Plan Offers." You'll see that there is one without and one with M2M.

Regardless of the possible pennies you might save I would go with Cingular based on coverage/network. I'm not saying either one is perfect, I just think you have a better shot at getting service if you decided to go to the beach or wherever out of the way place you might visit (Grandma's house, I don't know). T-Mo to me has always appeared to be a highway hugger in service. The farther you go on a side street away from an interstate, the worse your service gets...[The preceding has been an opinion and know way meant to offend]
