ATT customers paying bills in cash?

I am at a company location for Cingular and we have had a number of ATT customers coming in and trying to pay cash on their bill. The blue stores don't take cash, and in most cases send the customer here. The issue is, they get nasty, the customers who come here and we say we cannot take your money. Get a bank account, use a debit card, write a check, why would you think you could pay cash now if you never could before???
morons.

Force my phone over to Cingular? Help!

Network question: Does anyone know if I can force my ATTWS phone to Cingular. It seems that for a short period of time I was able to change my Network settings to manual and force my old V600 to Cingular. I'm in Chicago and I haven't been able to force my Nokia 6820 or MPx220. The 6820 rejects it and the MPX ingnores me. My phone mostly flips to Cingular anyway because my coverage downtown is so bad on ATTWS, but I'd like to make it a permanent lock on Cingular without changing to a Cingular plan with 1/2 the minutes.

Any suggestions?

ATTENTION ALL STORE REPS (BLUE AND ORANGE)

Blue Warranty Exchange Department does NOT, I repeat NOT send out NEW phones. We also charge shipping and handling. This optional service is not free.

I've had 5 customers escalate today because store reps are telling customers to call warranty exchange for new phones free.

If you don't know a department's policies (or better yet, if you don't work in the department), DO NOT SET EXPECTATIONS!!!

:D Porting out to other carriers from AT&T Legacy :D

Information about Monthly Charges
---------------------------------

All monthly charges in your bill are due and payable for the entire billing
cycle covered by the bill, even if you terminate service before the end of
the billing cycle. For any termination (including when you switch your
wireless number to another carrier), you will be responsible for payment of
all fees and charges through the end of the billing cycle in which
termination occurs. For more information about billing and your rights and

NC AWS Customers

Hmm... I hate it for anyone who is a AWS customer in North Carolina. Unlike most other states, Cingular/AWS divested its NC area to Triton PCS aka Suncom. Maybe its just me, but Suncom sucks. VA Suncom customers will be going to Cingular, so they will be better off. So this means that if you're in NC, forget about rollover (if you care) and Cingular benefits. Cingulars not the best but way better than Suncom 😡 . Oh yeah, this'll be happening in some other areas too, just with other "little" carriers...

Migration

What is the CHEAPEST route to migrate from blue to orange? Especially for a family plan with 3 phones & 1 single line (totaling 4 phones). I don't plan on doing it, but it would be nice to know if I do decide to.

ATT GSM phones on cingular network

Does anybody know what the compatibilty will be with the att gsm phones on the cingular network. CIngular tells me that I must buy 3 new phones to work because it is new gsm technology. I have 2 nokia 6800's and a 6820. Would unlocking the phones and getting a new gsm card work ? Any info about this topic would be appreciated.

Thanks

Question on upgrading to cingular?????

I was wondering if anybody knows if you have the At&t contract that doesn't expire until next year DEC and you want to switch over to cingular. To get a new phone or to be on one of their calling plans would you have to pay the full purchase price of the phone? or would you get treated like a new customer with a discount price? Also would you even be charged an early termination fee if I wanted to sign up with an cingular family plan??

How do they monitor tethering?

So I was reading the ATTWS website about their UTMS and they state:

"If you use your phone to connect to another device or computer via cable, Bluetooth or infrared, you will be charged $0.001 per KB or approximately $1/MB for data sent to or from your phone. You also will be charged $0.001 per KB if you remove the SIM card from your phone and use it to get wireless data service from another device or computer."

How do they monitor this? I've read on other forums that really can't sniff out tethered usage and they mainly look for large file downloads. Anybody out there currently a UTMS subscriber and can shed some light?

Thanks!

Need assistance from a Tech please

Help please. I just activated ATTWS on a V551 phone. Under Network Settings, one of the options is Speed. There are 4 choices: slow, medium, fast and continuous. It has been defaulted to Medium. I live in the Central NJ area, so what is the best selection for me?

Can you please also explain what this is and the differences in the selection? I called ATTWS Customer Service but they were clueless.

Thanks in advance.

purchasing e317

I went into my local att store, (now a cingular store) to buy the e316...The lady helping me, said there aren't any more e316's after the merger and i should switch to cingular and get the e317...i said ok.....i was going to do it, but she said she heard bad things about the e316 for att, and therefore wouldnt recommend the e317 for cingular, even tho she wasn't sure the cingular version would be as bad...i really want the e317 tho, as i have been researching it for a while...Do u feel either are bad phones?? She said that there is bad reception on the e316.. She was really trying to convice me not to get it, and wanted me to go for the moto v551, which i don't really like....is the e317 ok??...or do u agree with her??? I will have a 30-tria...

Oklahoma City AT&T SellOff

The AT&T assets in the Oklahoma City market are being sold to Alltel..yuk. Anyway, since I am being sold to a regional carrier is there any way that I can transfer my 3 lines to Cingular and not have an ETF on them?

Thanks

For sprint, t-mobile, nextel and verizon cust here is an idea

Sign up for new attws service and get free phones. wait about 30 days. migrate your numbers to cingular at a direct dealer and get more free phones. you wont have to worry about an ETF.

Customer Service Improvements Coming?

I prefer a wide-coverage GSM service but until now my only option was AT&T. Unfortunately, AT&T Customer Service is horrible so I've stuck with VZW and an unlocked quadband phone for travels. Does Cingular know the problem they are purchasing and if so, do they plan to address this right away?

My last try with AT&T was September. The store rep claimed that AT&T had an offering which would allow me to wirelessly synchronize my corporate email to my Treo 600. He also told me that as soon as I step off of the airplane in Hong Kong, my phone would be usable. I signed up and took the AT&T phone number for information on the offerings.

I spent one hour on hold waiting for the first customer service rep. Once I got to one clueless rep, he t...

ATTW phones

I notice that all of the other services came out with newer phones but not attw, the thing is I have been waiting for the v551 to come out and when it did only cingular carried it and I waited another month to see if cingular and ATT will carry the same phones when they joined forces. I figgured that the phones within ATTW are okay but their nothing compared to the newer ones that the other services may carry. so my question is will att come out with new phones? i'm getting kinda bored with the phone I have now
