Why is Verizon better?

nobodycares

May 6, 2006, 6:29 PM
I am a verizon customer, and employee, and I would just like to get some opinions on why Verizon is a better phone company than there competitors.
Feel free to express your feelings if you are with one of the verizon competitors, all advice will be appreciated! Thanks!

Ok now ask yourself these questions! If I was a customer and asked you WHY is Vzw better than Cingular. (I'm standing in your store with a cingular brochure in my hand)
What would you tell me.
I have the best service....WHY?
Best CS..... WHY???
What about reception, call clarity, dropped calls, network reliability. And as a customer why do I care Tmobile will give me 1500 mins for 39.99(I think this is current pricing). Just break it down also in eroes infocenter do some of the trainings.
seriously though what is your sales pitch? Think about how you position Vzw above other carriers

I have always been impressed by salespeople who are giving more than just a pitch why I should choose one product over another. Have passion, have a testimony, you need to truly believe in the product you're selling. Excitement over the superiority of one thing over another is contagious. For many customers what you say isn't as important as how you say it.

For those who pride themselves on their intelligence and education, the numbers work in your favor. Forget the products, you can sell the company based on quarterly reports. Look at how many customers Verizon picks up, and more important, how few they lose.

Anyone can be taken by a good salesman and sign up for a service they'll later regret, the point is they're not regretti...

Anybody that has used both VZW and Cigular know your full of it. There is a reason why VZW's churn is so low and Cingular's is much higher - because Cingular consistently sucks in ALL areas. Save the better phone arguments, because that don't fly with me or anyone else I know. I pay a lot of money for my wireless services and I get what I pay for with VZW. Cingular is an absolute joke of a company.

Also, save the ArmySF argument. He's a total tool. He left VZ...

Not really, when you're dealing with similar customer bases.

Similar customer base numbers and similar churn mean similar results. That's why churn is a percentage.

Now if we were comparing 50 million to 20 million...

I have used both Verizon and Cingular, and I don't "know" he's full of it.

I'm very pleased with Cingular service. From actual network reliability to customer service. I can't say that much for Verizon. And the nice phones are just an added perk.

Cingular must be a pretty good "joke" for being where they're at and being able to stay there.

Come to western Pennsylvania and give your phones a try, then you can tell me Cingular sucks in all areas and Verizon is better...and I'll know that you're full of it.

hes just unsatisfied ruff dont take it personal, people trash VZW all the time becuase they didnt get their free phone or the bluetooth is crippled whatever.

Ofcourse cingular is the industry leader (size wise) they are increasing coverage and lowering churn every quarter. what he says shouldnt really bother you.

VZW has the better network, tho 🙂

I'm not taking what he says personally. It just amazes me that people can be so brainwashed and ignorant to make a statement about "all" of anything.

It's just the same as Hello Moto trying to tell me that "everybody (in America)" recognizes the Cingular brand. They don't.

Nobody can speak for everybody.

And I agree. Verizon is a very good network in a lot of places, and it works for a lot of people...but not for everybody. I'm a prime example.

I'm not saying Verizon is bad, but I definitely would not say it dominates in Western PA. Everywhere I go with my Cingular phone I always seem to have sufficient service. And surprisingly, Cingular gives me service in buildings much better than I ever had with Verizon. The building penetration just isn't Verizon's strong point, especially in my home.

I've experienced far more dropped calls and garbled/static sounding audio with Verizon than I ever have with Cingular.

I live in Pittsburgh, just for reference.

Sell what you can back up. In Verizon's case, it's their network.

You don't see a hybrid car commercial trying to sell you on the horsepower the car has. They sell you on the clean system and better gas mileage. Why? Because that is what makes the Hybrid sellable.

I would love to become a VZW (or other carrier) sales rep, but have a career (that I've become burnout on) which I couldn't leave and expect to make anywhere near the money I make now. In about six or seven years when my two kids are beyond college, I may try to make the leap.

If I did sell VZW at the present time, I would do the following:

1) Emphasize the network. Point out (if true) that VZW has the best coverage in the area that the potential customer lives/works. Emphasize that when traveling throughout the USA that VZW will have the best coverage in most areas. If you travel much (as I do), you will be able to relate personal experience to back up the claim.

2) Know your network and equipment inside and out. I have found that ...

What is wrong with you people. Just because you work with the company you cannot tell me that Verizon has the best service every where you go. While a dependable service in a lot of areas, there are certain places it will not work. I was a customer with Verizon for about 3 years and left because of high prices. I switched to Sprint, the service is right on par with Verizons where I live. Though C.S. has left me wondering a few times if it was worth it. Plans are better and service is the same. What I am trying to get at is, you never know what will work best if you dont utilize your 14 day return policies.

We are thrilled to death that you like Sprint and it's working well in your area. Let's talk about sprint and their no roaming charges 🙄 , sub-par coverage, awful customer service, and their pathetic (1900 MHz) network. Would you like to discuss all these shortcomings? 🙂

heres an idea, dont go over your minutes.

Verizon wireless gives you TWO free tools to track your minutes, one being #min from the handset airtime free it lets you know your minutes.

also go to verizonwireless.com and click on my account sign in and it shows your minutes. if you are going over your minutes you are not on the right plan.

FURTHERMORE you can call customer care airtime free anytime and increase your minutes to the next plan up, that plan can be backdated to the start of the bill cycle to give you the benefit of this minutes the whole month thus avoiding any overage charges.

also you said 45c a min overage which leads me to believe you are on the 39.99 plan, the fair and flexable plan from sprint is 39.99 only includ...

If you go over exactly 50 minutes you get charged $5. 10c/min. that sounds good. But what if you go over 2 minutes. $2.50 / min overage. I would pay a Early Term FEE to get out of that contract. It makes 45c a min sound like heaven to me.

heres a graph for you mathmatically challenged sprint customers

MIN CHARGE
OVER - PER MIN
(SP) (VZW)
1 - $5 - 20-45c
2 - $2.50 - 20-45c
3 - $1.67 - 20-45c
4 - $1.25 - 20-45c
5 - $1.00 - 20-45c
6 - 83c - 20-45c
7 - 71c - 20-45c
8 - 63c - 20-45c
9 - 56c - 20-45c
10 - 50c - 20-45c
11 - 45c - 20-45c
CONGRATS IF YOU COMPARE TO VZW 39.99 PLAN YOU FINALLY BEGIN TO SAVE MONEY
12 - 42c - 20-45c
13 - 38c - 20-45c
14 - 36c - 20-45c

You are right on target. Verizon in the Chicago area is very spotty a lot of dropped calls, very bad building penetration, and some static. I had Verizon for about 3 years and had nothing but problems. Their phones are not that great and their new UI really is not good either. My brother is still with them and every time he talks to me he sounds like he is in a tin can.

I too have switched to sprint and have had better results and cheaper prices, I switched my wife too and it is great that when she goes shopping her phone actually works inside the malls she goes to.

Once in a while I get customers with the ghetto "I want a bling-bling flashy phone and mo minutes with da earlia nights" mentality. My first response is, sure they offer those extra incentives, because they need to. I briefly explain how our network is superior which is our advantage, then if I look back at them and they are staring off into space obviously lacking the mental capacity to comprehend what I'm saying, I'll quickly point out the closest competitor that will give them their bling bling, hoping they don't waste another minute of my day.

Who cares if a customer wants those options on there phone! So they see something they like and want what is going to work best with there income. Which from what i have seen, people with lower income just cant afford your plans. Why dont you do your job as a salesman and offer what the customer is looking for. Do you just read a post and interpret it anyway you see fit? The facts are verizon doesn't offer a bucket of minutes for cheap, early nights, etc. What 85percent does is explains to the potential customer the benefits of verizon. He can't sell them what they don't offer.

So before you go telling someone to do their job, think and pull your head out your a$s.
