Open network update: a little bird told me...
Feb 14th is when the list of "approved devices" will work. Then if you want to activate something else you have to send it in until we update the approved devices list. Basically verifying it won't harm the device or the network to use it, and getting the unlock code. Funny thing I found out: as much as people complain about vzw phones being restricted...we are one of the few carriers who's phones are unlocked out of the box. Good to go! No wonder we bought out surewest...all I could ask for is fios in nor-Cal!

this has already been posted. And discussed alllooottt!

verizon sucks send the phone in, that's weak sauce! 🙄
...
only if its not already on the approved devices list. that list is small now because vzw isn't gonna spend the money to buy a new device from an osp, and test it. they will wait for everyone to bring the phone they want, test it, and then either decline it or add it to the list, so it will grown and change as quick as people can come out with phones. and keep in mind, its not just a phone, anything that meets network requirements will be allowed. so mod your '77 s-10 up to work on a cdma network and you can drive it with your phone. like james bond!

What other than a phone would be any good on a cell phone network?

With data being a huge thing, practically anything.
Think outside the box. I know a lot of vending machines have modems in them that will transmit reports back to an office and alert for restocking. Not a lot of data transferred, but still usable.

word. handle my light work!

"Welcome to Verizon Wireless. Is there anything I can help you with?"
"Yeah, I would like to activate this vending machine on a line on my family plan."
*wife wheels in a Pepsi machine*
Haha!

After I thought about it for a bit, I realized you could activate an internal EVDO modem in a laptop, but vending machines are good too!
...
LOL. Yah, you wouldn't need to wheel the entire pepsi machine in, but just the modem. But think about the fact that you can slap a modem on just about anything.
Wouldn't you like it if there was software developed so your refridgerator could text you when you're low on milk?
How about having a gps/modem in your vehicle and one on your garage/home. When your within a mile of your house your heat/ac turn on to a preset temp automatically. Then when you get to your driveway the garage door opens for you.
The things you can do with wireless data is huge!
