Use the Samsung i700 on MetroPCS?

I inherited a Samsung i700 and I'm interested in using it on the MetroPCS cellular network. It's CDMA 800/1900.

Can I use it directly with MetroPCS (just open an account & give them the ESN?

or does the i700 phone need to be UNLOCKED?

Where can I get information about unlocking the i700 (sold only for Verizon)?

Metro has finally merged Sacto/Bay Area

The Sacto and Bay Area systems were treated separately. A Sacto user could not use it here in the B.A., and vice-versa.
Now, according to their website, it appears it is now treated as one big service area. What they did before is arbitrarily draw a line half way between the two areas. They have always had coverage along the 90 miles of #80 between here and Sacto - users would just get cut off as they cross that half way point.

AOL Instant Messenger

Almost a year ago MetroPCS indicated they were looking at providing AIM on their services. So I bought a phone that could handle it. Haven't heard anything on this topic though. Anyone heard if they are dropping it?

Metro PCS has extended their coverage in GA.

Well as a former Metro PCS costumer, I know that extending their coverage in GA was a good idea. Now Metro PCS costumers can use their phone in Hampton, Fayetteville, Palmetto, Conyers, Mc Donough, Loganville, Douglassville, Auburn, and etc Georgia.

SF Bay Area?

How is MetroPCS's service in the SF Bay Area nowadays? When I left in March of this year it was pretty bad (dropped calls, no signal at peak hours, etc.) Just curious to how it is like nowadays. Have they gone through and fix problems? I was using mostly in the San Jose area.
