My opinion on recent developments.

I guess the bright side of Sprint right now is the growth in the Power Vision, DO network which has over 1.5 million customers so far, MVNOs and Boost Mobile while both legacies are struggling and it is quite obvious which network is doing poorly. The good thing what I listened to during the call is that they were very upfront with their problems at hand and have plans in place to fix them. I think Mr. Forsee is a good leader but we have to see if they can execute which is key especially if you have everything going for you such as having the best assets in the industry, but if you cant execute then doesn’t matter about your assets. There is obviously some problems going on and it seems like they aren’t keeping the subscribers as evidence b...

So there are some positive things and negative things from the quarterly release, which I think many of us understand, plus I outlined it above, but mergers this size take a lot of time to do well after the merger is closed.

Yeah, because Cingular and AT&T Wireless are going to be in the pits for the next decade. 🙄

You're denial is quite humorous. 🤣

Yep! denial at its best. You claim that "mergers like this take time to do well"
Well, Cingular's merger with AT&T didn't. There were losses and stuff, but there was only one quarter that was crappy, but never this crappy. I think the worst post merger (net adds speaking) was like 800,000 still that's a lot more than what sprint managed to add for Q3 '06

The Cingular merger did go much better than I thought it would and they hit a home run with their marketing over the last year or so.
Sprint went about where I thought they would or maybe a little worse. Sprint has always had crappy advertising, look at the current marketing strategy!! Power Up????? What the hell is that going to do to make you think call quality????? They are oversubscribed on thier Nextel Spectrum and customers are running to Cingy, T-bag Mobile and VZW in droves!!!
Sprint needs a miracle and nut overhyped Data products, I mean who the hell wants to sit around watching TV on a 2x3 screen, I'll take my 52" anyday. Go ahead and keep dumping money into Data Sprint, you will loose customers, lay off employees and have a...

Sprint is losing customers on data? I think you should look again especially with Power Vision. From 300k when it started out to 1.5 million during the 3rd quarter isn’t that bad. (they started 4th quarter of 2005.)

They won’t lose any customers with data with 2.5g and they won’t lose any customers with 3g. they also won’t lose customers when they roll out Wimax.

Fyi, people are watching on their little screens with every provider, but when you can do more things on a nice big TV at your house and others with that joint venture set up with Comcast, Sprint, Cox and others you will be surprised at what type of potential that will bring to the companies involved. Sprint will prepaid with that product too and wait isnt that data? Yes it ...

Are you reading my post tard? I never said they were loosing data cusotmers!!!!
They have 1.5 million power vision users, yay!! So out of 50,000,000 subs 1.5 million are using it yet the company is dumpimg a majority of revenue into Rev-A and Wi Max while sacrificing voice? It's like putting sweet body kit on a rice rocket and a cool coffee can muffler but never doing any work on the motor- all show no go.
Sprint is loosing customers and their plan is not working, end of discussion Nextel18!! Now go peddle a few walkie talkie's GI Nextel

Something must be wrong if you will resort to name-calling.

You don't know your data and until then and if you can talk civilly, then this conversation will go nowhere quickly.

Sooooooo.

50 Billion to buy Nextel, but it was a good idea that will take some time, even though so far 2 straight bad quarters (whith churn going UP).

41 Billion to buy ATTWS, great 1st quarter and numbers has essentially improved every quarter (some ups and downs on adds but churn, data doing great), but as you continue to post up until a couple days ago it was a mistake.

You continue to rip jack but coddle Sprint. I can't say those classes you are taking are teaching you much.

I agree with the claim that data is the future for Sprint and that it will bring in business oriented customers for Sprint. For example Revision A is expected to be rolled out in our market by the end of the year and already we have customers rolling in to buy the newer aircards because Verizon will not have those faster speeds anytime soon and Cingular clearly can't compete in the high speed data area. But the real issue with Sprint is how a company that was still hanging tough before the merger and a company like Nextel that was doing well with business customers and all of a sudden they merge and both companies can't attract or keep subscribers. How has Sprint countered their churn and an a inability to attract new customers? They have ra...

I mean to have 1.5 million customers already on the network for Power Vision and it is only REV O in less than 1 year is a very good sign of the growth for the company especially since they are now a data centric company with prepaid/wholesale/mvno segments. Not bad of a growth story and that will continue with the newer developments that will come up in the coming months and coming years. Only things can get better with their data, but now they have to do something to convert those data customers over to the voice side, which I quite don’t understand why they cant do so, because if they are getting customers to sign up to the data they should convince them to sign up on the voice side. I guess that is the same situation but in reverse wit...

The company won't continue at this pathetic pace I know that. They've tightened the credit requirements, which really hammered the NYC market in adds. Not to mention that due to the credit class changes, involuntary churn has also skyrocketed the overall churn rate the past 2 quarters. They took wayyyyyyy to long to release the hybrid phone. They are finally getting good Moto's in their CDMA lineup. And they bit off more than they can chew - Rev A, Wimax, affiliates, hybrid, maintaining 2 networks, etc all in the past year. Focus Sprint, focus.
The thing that bothers me is their advertising. In the daily news today: "No one has a more powerful network" Then they show a picture of a sanyo 2400? What's so f*cking powerful about tha...

They didn’t take too long at putting out the hybrids because it is a good time to put them when they had because every day they wait and have more tests the better because they want to overlap the CDMA coverage map with the IDEN coverage map or else the dual mode devices wont work at its most efficient way.

Well remember, they don’t control their phone manufacturers so I don’t blame Sprint for that.

I think that joint venture will help a lot and start to bring over some of the problems they have been facing with the voice side and I think that will start to come over with the other data customers and other customers who are coming in to sign up on the voice side.

Good point with the prospects because they do, the problem is, they ...
