He definitely started the "Bull Moose Progressive Movement"... But that was after he had left the Presidency. He said he was "fit as a Bull Moose" after he was shot in the chest during a campaign speech in 1912. The man got back up and finished his speech!
This is another point of why I think politics are so backwards today. Republicans back then were considered "progressive". His policies would be considered both "progressive" and "conservative" today because he loved nature, started the conservation movement, fought corruption in corporations, won the Nobel Peace prize for helping to stop the Russian/Japanese war...

Aside from a few "social" programs that Teddy proposed, Teddy and Ron Paul were neck and neck on policy.
They both believe that Corporatism is ruining America. They both believe that big government should stay out of individuals lives. They both believe in decreasing the power of the government and leaving many things up to the states....

Read the one on New Nationalism. It is very anti-corporate and very civil libertarian.
Roosevelt was branded as a "socialist" for these views and Ron Paul is branded as a "libertarian" for the exact same views. The same enemy is doing all the name calling and lying.
