I know, that is stupid, if your talking on speakerphone, or on a headset, IMO it is no different than talking to a passenger.

Virginia Tech's survey/analysis showed that talking on the phone while driving increases risk of an accident 1.3 times and up, while texting and driving is an increase of 23. That's only one survey. Other institutes have put the increased risk anywhere from 3 to 10 times more increased risk while talking on the phone. And the speed of a car doesn't determine its risk for an accident. When you're driving slower your guard is down and it's more likely that you'd either steer into another car, hit a pedestrian, or drive off the road.

It might be a silly law, but the numbers don't lie.

So are you able to explain the difference between a --handsfree-- cell phone conversaation, and having a conversation with a passenger?

I don't think that they are talking about talking in and of itself. That would be stupid, if you have a hands fee device. I think were the distractions come in for most people or when a call gets dropped and they're trying to reconnect the call or just continuously checking the phone for signal strength. I could bw wrong but, that would be a distraction at any speed.

Apparently an increase in the probability of an accident. Be as butt-hurt as you want to be about the law and throw out the red herring of "passenger talk" all you want, doesn't bother me.

Of course there's risk when you get in a vehicle. There's a greater risk of being hit while walking in a parking lot than from getting in an automobile accident. There's always risk. That's why they use the term "increased risk". Dictionary.com is a great place to look up the word "increased". Don't hurt yourself.

And if your moron just stay home, shouldn't the possibility of accident "decrease"?
Even a 5th grader knows 2-1=1

It's like you're trying to say something, but your words don't match up in a way that make sense 🤣 I hope your driving is better than your grammar.

What do the numbers say about talking to passengers in the same vehicle? Shall we ban that, too? Just give me all the states that have dip*Bleep* like this one, please.
