...no one actually purchased this garbage. I remember watching the commercials for FLO thinking it was odd that they failed to mention their horrible coverage.

Yea no kidding, I never bought any Flo capable device. Even the phones that supported it, too bad for the windoze phone that has it... What a waste of $.

I wonder why vzw is still even offering/advertising for the service... lol

How is the coverage "horrible"? Keep in mind that MediaFLO is a broadcast standard, not a cellular standard. Similar to NTSC or ATSC, MediaFLO is designed to be broadcast from one to a few "big sticks" (i.e. tall, high powered antennas) in each market. So, it is not possible to simply overlay MediaFLO on a cellular network. Additionally, until the oft delayed DTV transition finally was completed in summer 2009, Qualcomm had to coordinate its MediaFLO deployments carefully, as Qualcomm was obligated to protect NTSC & ATSC broadcasters on UHF channels 54-56 from co channel & adj...

I don't know... YOU try taking calls from customers who purchased a FLO handset and they don't live anywhere near the coverage area. Slick arse sales reps make me sick. Talk about dumping garbage on customers. Still...ultimately I wish Verizon had never included that garbage in ANY of their handsets.
