Countering the iPad with a big WebOS device. Not a bad idea!

Do you really think there will be any WebOS products from HP before the end of this year? I'd be surprised if there are, maybe they will have a product to showcase at CES in January.

I don't know if it will ship, but uh if HP really honestly lost a year on the HP Slate then heads should roll.

I mean really, to lose a year on the iPad?

A couple minutes ago I saw an advertisement for the Evo, it was awesome, it showed all sorts of retro tech, and talked about "1st technologies" . . .I liked it!

If only I wasn't firewalled from youtube at work... or had tv at home! I'll have to remember to look it up, it's about time Sprint had some more really cool commercials!

Firewalled @ work? That's a damn shame! Don't you have a Droid?

The advertisement shows all sorts of firsts, first car, first calculator, first cell phone, first tv, and so on, and then @ the end it shows the HTC Evo 4G, I like it a lott!

That sounds excellent! Unfortunately, my only internet is on my netbook at home. I would love a Droid, but I'm a chronic phone dropper, so I think maybe the Rock is more appropriate for me. 😉

Well...I don't know if this makes a difference, but the Droid is made of metal, and the screen is made of gorilla glass, I knoq, strange name for glass but it essentially means it's way, way hard to scratch.

So you have a netbook, those are cute little things.
Do you have Clear Wimax in the city you live in?
...

Jun 3, 2010, 7:01 PM
Yes, but not at my house yet. Only half of the city is covered.

So I'm still using my VZW usb modem. 🙂 My other problem is I can't justify spending the money for internet on my phone when I'm paying 2 bucks a day to have it in my computer, you know? Gotta pay off that credit card first! ;)

Yep, I know, I've got a usb modem for Clear, but it's just sitting around unused right now. I've had Clear Wimax here in Las Vegas since last August, fastest speed I ever got on it was 15mbps!!! What city do you live in?

Lancaster, PA. We're known for the Amish in our county - so I was pleasantly surprised that we launched 4G here so early! I figured we'd have to wait forever and a day...

I'm originally from Connecticut! 😁

I grew up here, then moved to WMass to finish college (I did 3 years right out of high school, then quit. Idiot!!). Made some great friends, and worked for VZW all over mass and conn. Never intended to live there for 6 years, but sort of got stuck.

Now I'm back home, and happy to be here! (thumbs nose at new englanders without 4G!!)

😛

Where in CT? I worked in Enfield, Manchester, and Newington.

Well, I was born in Bridgeport, lived in Shelton as a kid, and Waterbury as a teenager. I like Ct a whole lot more than LV!!!!!!
Cause I'm a very conservative/centemporary sort of guy, ...not wild. A lot of girls in Las Vegas are wild, tatted up, pierced up.

I don't want to grow old in Las Vegas, that's for sure.

Your so funny, you say it like there's some special technique to pressing the button on the machine, well who knows, maybe you have nice hands, and the machine will like the way you press it's buttons 😉

Personally, I have never gambled, I just go to casinos for things like buffetts, movies (a lot of movie theaters here are built in with the casinos), I also like some of the architecture.
My mother was here in June of 07, and she really like Caesars and the Luxor. I like the MGM, NYNY (Of course) and City Center.

Hey MissChris, I am so, so bored @ work, I have 3 more hours left. Hey, if you ever do visit here, you be sure to touch base with me 😁

Actually that's exactly what I have, an HP with a 15.4in screen, I don't really use it much though. I use my Droid most of the time, Android 2.2 is suppose to have Wifi tethering, so I'm sure I'll use it more once I get the 2.2 update.

Did you read the statement by HP that they didn't acquire palm to move into the mobile business?

From the way they were talking, it seems like they want to use WebOS for tablets more than anything.

If true, it's a shame

Foamy is ok. Not really my cup of tea (I dislike chipmunk voices, unless it's chipmunked death metal, cause it's an improvement) but it's not bad.

And yeah, I'm a pretty big fan of games, specifically Real Time Strategy ones.

I'm gonna tell you something, and your probably gonna laugh, the last time I played video games was the original Nintendo, that's right 😕 But way, way back when I watched the intoduction of the PS3 during E3 I was blown away.

Most of my adult like I've been into movies. But sometime next year, after I'm finished paying off credit card, I want to get a gaming console, probably the newest PS3.

As long as it's been, I think the sort of games I'd be into are Star Wars Battlefront, and maybe some sort of baseball games, don't really know which other ones I might be into though.

Do you have a preference? PS3/XBox360? And why?

Personally I'm leaning towards PS3 cause it's also a Blu-Ray player. Plus that cell processor I understand is very, very impressive.
...
Menno

Jun 5, 2010, 10:25 AM
For me it would be the 360 because of the game choices. I'm not a fan of most Playstation exclusive titles, and while the PS3 is impressive, they really missed the mark when it came to games (it's more of an entertainment center that plays games instead of a gaming rig that is an entertainment center)

Man, this seems like too much work! Booting up in recovering, and so on, and so on!!!! The 2.1 update, there was nothing to that!

Downloads: These files are nandroid backups. You must download them extract them, and then place in the appropriate folder. ROM is already rooted with new SuperUser installed Install Instructions Clockwork Recovery: 1) Download file 2) Extract folder named 2010-06-05.06.15.32 3) Place folder 2010-06-05.06.15.32 in the /sdcard/clockwork/ backup folder on your sdcard backup folder on your sdcard 4) Restart phone in recovery 5) Go to nandroid, select restore, select the above folder and press the camera button

I have 2.2 on my phone 😉

You need to have a rooted phone for this to work, and remember rooting voids your warranty, and while the chance of you destroying your phone with root is low, it is there (especially if you don't follow instructions)

The hardest part for you is getting your phone rooted. it's a lot harder now than it was when the phone had 2.01. If you're interested I can get you the links.

Nandroid is awesome though. It allows you to COMPLETELY back up your phone so as long as your phone powers on, you can fix any issues you make.

Honestly, I would wait for Cyanogen or Pete (two rom developers) to come out with a 2.2 rom before you jump on it (wifi doesn't work on this version, and gallery is buggy) but if yo...

Aren't there things involved with rooting like pressing the power button, camera button, and control+alt ALL @ the same time? It seems difficult & complicated.

So you have 2.2 is the web browser really faster? It's suppose to be 2-5x faster right? That's something I'm really looking forward to.

Still testing stuff. Phone was reloading all my apps, took me awhile.

You need to press and hold the power key and the x key at the same time. Then when that is done, you need to hold the volume up and camera key down at the same time to get into the default recovery.

Once you are rooted, you use ROM manager to flash roms back and forth.

Is the web broswer faster? Frinkin PS loads, and then stops to load an advertisement, then starts again, also Engadget kinda loads slow also, and Android Central load slow, does 2.2 make as much of a difference as it's supposedly said to?

Phonescoop has issues loading period for me (phone or computer)

I did notice that the comment section and the like loads a LOT faster.

websites seem a bit faster, but the real difference are those comment scrips and the like.
