Why is this bad exactly? The only PCs i've had that lasted more than a couple years were all HPs (except for one's i built myself). Those things lasted forever. Not to mention WebOS is the most solid phone OS i've ever used (yes, i've tried em all) so anything that keeps it around is a plus!

I think its a good move for both company's. We as consumers don't want to see the demise of any company it eliminates competition and only encourages price hiking amongst the survival company's.
