I currently have a BB, my first, and I use it mostly for emails. I have heard from my verizon friend that there is a 15 minute delay in receiving emails on HTC/androids. Can anyone confirm this? I can't have that big of a delay and that may be the deal breaker for me.

Actually... I think you can get it as soon as 5 mins.

that is much more comforting. thx

i have an android phone and i get my emails less then 5 mins!!

If you are set up for immediate, you get them asap. That will drain your battery, because of all the searching being done, but you will get the emails instantaneous.

the default delay is 15minutes.
You can set the Droid to look for new mail every 5 minutes if you wish, or push them all through gmail, in which case, the email is PUSHED to your phone practically instantly.

It depends. If you are using Gmail or an Exchange server then it will push immediately. Otherwise you have to set the phone to check at a certain interval.

I have never used android or gmail, so I will apologize in advance for asking what I am sure is a really stupid question. Can I sync other email accounts (hotmail, yahoo, comcast) to a gmail account and have all of my messages come to this phone immediately? I am a non-business blackberry user ready to make the switch to this phone, but I would need to have the ability to get several email addresses forwarded to the device. Is there a good link where I can educate myself about this?

My gmail checks my hotmail and yahoo emails for me automatically.
I also have other gmail accounts forwarded to my main account. The same setting that will check other accounts doesn't allow me to set up other gmail accounts, so I simply forward them from the other account to the main.
If you set up a gmail account, this feature is found under settings, and then under accounts & import.

Thanks epik. The email thing could have been an issue, but it doesn't sound like it will be. I guess I need to sign up for gmail.
