All new for 2007! (And no IM support?)

These plucky little phones remind me of those now long-forgotten Helio handsets. But it's 2010. These would make sense going to Virgin Mobile, but nobody else will even give them a look.

But seriously? No IM support? Plain and simple - fail.

Maybe it'll take off in the market for people who want pictures of dbags preloaded on their phone. 🤣

If that's the case.. wouldn't these "Kin" phones be glorified feature phones that require a data package?

I just don't see how they'll effectively position this compared to their WindowsPhone7.

That's pretty much what they are. I think they're targeting younger people (aka 12-13) . It'd make sense as a prepaid phone, but otherwise these will sell like coldcakes.

While I don't think it is will be cheap, I do think its going to top out at around $100.00 and is gonna be placed hopefully on a non smartphone plan. I can see tons of teenaged girls (like my own) with happy fingers, wanting this phone. It fits their needs.

the problem is with Verizon, unlimited data (currently) is the same on smartphone and non smartphone plans (dumb I know)

and you would blow through 25mb in a day with even a glorified feature phone like this...

At $100.00 it's a total ripoff unless the plans are cheaper.

What if there was an apple with a bite taken out of it, on the front of the phone? 🙄

Then it'd be pretty hard to see the screen. 😳

"... MMS, SMS, and video capture. IM is not supported, according to Microsoft. Microsoft called Kin "the next chapter in the Windows Mobile story"

From an earlier Phone Scoop post.
