It's hard to go under with a billion dollars of cash. The company is growing sales and profits and generally moving in the right direction.

They made those billions off of the backs of underpaid workers like yourself.

I'm worked there for 2 years as a manager. Talk about slave wages.

I went and worked directly for a Wireless Carrier, and made double the the pay while working only 40 hours a week rather than the 60+ I worked as a manager.

im gonna echo CS2006 on this one. how can we suck if radioshack is growing with cash in the pocket, not debt, and best buy is trying to find a way to help their weakness?

radio shack closed hundreds of stores a couple years ago so i wouldnt say you are growing. the exects there were hired to bring the company out of the red and look like the company is worth anything. they either sell the company and make boat loads of cash, or they buy back the shares and make a boat load of money.

if radio shack/best buy had to sell phones at the same prices everyone else does, they would never sell another phone.

I used to work there, and when I was at the Shack, I was hoping that they would get bought out. One of the frustrating things for me in a rural area was that they would advertise all this stuff, like ipods when they first launched, and the company didn't have enough purchasing power to keep us in stock, so we'd get three of them when the big city stores got hundreds. What keeps me going there are the knowledgable service people (I know not all Shacks have them, but we're fortunate) and the ability to get whatever crazy connector, wire, or tool I need for my electronics needs. Even if they rebrand as Best Buy Mobile, I hope they keep their parts inventory.

i feel your pain on some level. we never sell ipods, but we are always running out of phones. and my manager has been working for radio shack longer than i have been alive. so yea, we are one of the few super fortunate store with lots of knowledge.

I haven't worked there in forever, but I recall being told that HQ had little interest in selling most Apple products because there was virtually no profit. Apple sets their MSRP just barely over the wholesale cost, with an even slimmer margin than most stores have on their low-profit bait.

If someone works in a store in a town with no shovels, horses, or traffic lights, it's not like RadioShack is the only store without anything good. We were the victims of seemingly poor distribution as well, but I kind of thought they were right most of the time, especially with products in limited supply which would sell within minutes at a high-volume store, but would have sat in our store for a week before anyone even wanted to look at it.
