As long as it doesn't increase my Fee and my bill doesn't go up I have no problem or care of what they do with this crap fund anyway!

You are going to whine about an increase of less than a dollar a month? A minimal increase that actually benefits the country as a whole and not just your sheltered view and limited area?

People always scream about no increases in taxes, fees, etc, but they want everything to improve too.

It really benefits the country as a whole? I thought just the rural areas according to this article. As yes less then a dollar a month is still an increase. Technically in my contract is doesn't give them the right to legally raise my fee...

You're right. You would be allowed out of your contract. Your reward? Going to another carrier that is doing the exact same thing. So the only thing you would have accomplished is having a way out of your contract, but you didnt manage to avoid the thing you are complaining about.

Geez I thought that was the reason I payed my bill. So that the company I use could take the money earned to expand their coverage in those "rural" areas... its another reason for our government to nickel and dime us.... a buck doesn't sound like much til u add up the 300+ million who have a cell phone bill. Let me do the math..... roughly 4 billion.. sounds like a nice pay check...

Since when does "300+ moiilon" x $1 = $4 billion? Shouldn't it be 300+ million? Were you adjusting for some kind of time period?

I don't believe that this allows you out of your contract. I know that Verizon Wireless has this covered:

What Charges Are Set by Verizon Wireless?
You agree to pay all access, usage and other charges that you or the user of your wireless device incurred. Our charges include Federal Universal Service, Regulatory and Administrative Charges, and we may also include other charges related to our governmental costs. We set these charges; they aren't taxes, they aren't required by law, they are kept by us in whole or in part, and the amounts and what they pay for may change.

If your contract says you will only pay a $1.49 charge but then raises it to $1.99... you can leave. This is wha sprint constantly does ever January but you only have 30 days to opt out of it.

Actually, this is a nicety by Sprint. As with Verizon (and probably ATT, should check sometime), the terms of service clearly state that the fee may change at any time. Note that the quoted Verizon agreement does not state the value of the charge, only that it may be charged and the charge may change at anytime.

One thing many don't realize is that a lot of the fees they are being charged are not locked in by the contracts; very rarely, if ever, does a contract state an exact price on anything beyond 'We can charge this fee, and if we do, you will pay it'

Well, it's a good thing that Verizon Wireless' Terms & Conditions say no such thing. 😛

Depends on who your contract is with; you may want to read it more closely. The Sprint terms of service do state that the fees may change at any time with or without warning. Now, granted, they have been kind enough with recent changes (Administrative fee increase and spending limit fees) to allow customers to leave freely within 30-days of the change, but the terms of service state they didn't have to.

Paying income tax. Paying sales tax. Paying tax on my cable bill. Paying tax an gas. Paying property tax. Paying all kinds of weird taxes on my land line phone. Paying the same taxes on my wireless bill. 😡

May be if the government would stop spending money on BS, we would be paying less in fees and taxes. 😲

Never will happen. Makes too much sense for the people we elect to represent us.
