I really thought this was one of the supposed advantages to Android. Was I hallucinating at the VZW store when I typed a query into the box on the droid's home screen?

the droid has that yes because it's running android 2.0 this thing isn't as I understand.

Running 2.0, motoblur, 1.6, 1.5, sense has nothing to do with this. This is solely AT&T trying to control their customers and try to limit everything. They apparently have been taking cues from Apple and how blindly their customers will follow.

It's funny how Verizon is finally loosening the knot on their network freedom, but at the same time AT&T and Apple are tightening the rope...I don't get what AT&T is up to. At least Verizon learns from their mistakes.

The search widget has been present since 1.0 of android (look at the G1)

ATT ripped that coding out and put a Yahoo one in there instead
