I could have sworn that I recently saw figures that Symbian leads worldwide in marketshare. However... the number is declining while others... like iPhone and Android are rising.

You are correct in the Symbian is current leader worldwide. But those numbers are going to change drastically in the next 1yr as the Android takes over. Symbian is not a bad OS by any means, its just that is never going to get developer attention like iphone os , android, or even winmo. Now if Nokia were to release an Android device, I would be the first in line.

symbian is a pretty good OS out of all of the ones I've used (apple, wm, android etc) and its especially good on the smart phone side i.e. s60
plus 455 is not bad for a band new unsubsidized phone from nokia (hell my n97 was around 600 when it came out)
