Well at least the Motorola brand will live on! Motorola is right up there with IBM & Qualcomm as among the most important tech companies in the U.S.

Yeah if they lost the Motorola brand name I'd just quit! Motorola has been around for so long it would send a ripple throughout the wireless industry if they lost their name. Current Motorola devices would spike in value. I've always liked their products, even though they sometimes released a "lemon". But when they put everything into it, it comes out great. (ie. Motorola V60, E815, RAZR, RAZR2 V9x, and of course the DROID) These are my favorites.
And some may disagree on the RAZR line but you have to admit, when it first came out everybody wanted one. It changed the industry's view on how phones are built.

You didnt like the StarTac? 😲
...
Considering Moto invented the cell phone and they are a major player in radio technology from providing radios to first responders to me it makes sense that it was Motorola that was the first to bring a phone like the Razr to market.

I must admit that I cannot tell if you are being sarcastic or not (I hope you are). If you are serious... 🙄
I don't know where to start. The V60 and the V3 were poor phones. I know, I know... EVERYONE wanted a Razr. That does not change the fact that it was crap. It just shows how sad consumers are. The E815 and V710 WONDERFUL RF. My favorite phone EVER was the Timeport 270C, of course. Man, I loved that phone. But all three of these shared that freaking charging port (along with the V60) that Motorola was aware of for years and STILL continued to manufacture phones with it. I *Bleeped* to my Motorola rep at Alltel about and she told me they were aware of it. The same when I was at AT&T and still again at Verizon. The...

Au contraire, the V60 (CDMA) on Verizon had an impeccable reception, especially in the mountains, rural areas and out on the coast. If the technology did not evolve as rapidly as it did, I'd still be using mine because unlike many other phones I owned, the V60 WORKED and still does.

Yes, the v60 was good (when the antenna wasn't broken!).
Almost everything after that sucked. The RAZR looked cool, but voice quality was slightly below average with its muddy sound, and the processor could barely crank out an email.
The StarTAC was much like the v60. Lame menu, but sound quality and reception were awesome. Too bad Motorola discovered at the turn of the century that you can make a fancy-looking phone WITHOUT good sound quality, and people will still buy it.
...
The fact that Motorola put its name on a total P.O.S. like the T193 is almost enough to cancel out their invention of the cell phone.
...
The Moto E815 is STILL my favorite of all the phones I've ever owned. I actually bought it twice - upgraded to another of the same at the end of my contract because I didn't like anything else VZW had at the time.
...BTW, though, I think that one was actually a Pantech rebrand, if I remember correctly...
...
I knew that Pantech re-branded for Nokia. I never heard for Motorola. It seems unlikely though.

Motorola is honestly more of a shell company now. Ed Zander pretty much gutted the company (especially the handset division.)
