I'll be holding on to my 3G phones until I can move to a Wi-Max area, I guess.

Clear/Sprint needs to move faster on deployment, I have a sprint data card, off contract and the first company that gets 4g be it wimax or lte down to me at the Jersey Shore is getting my business.

Under the circumstances, Sprint/Clear are moving rather well. This is a new year and many new markets are set for launch very soon.

I love it when people say "The first one to get it, gets my business." I'm not one to jump on something right away until facts are in place. Let's say you sign up for two years with LTE for a certain price with data cap. 3-4 months later, WiMax comes in with no contract, no cap and a better price. I would be pretty bent.

Clear has no contract options and the 4G only modems are fairly cheap. $50 with no contract last I checked. The hybrid modems are $200 plus no contract however.

You're in a large area that represents a good amount of customers, you will be in one of the markets that hits this year and I'd bet money on it too. The places they rolled our first were a bit more for "convenience" in certain cases, and test areas in other.

Since Sprint does get a healthy amount of say in where the network goes I know some decisions have been based on Sprints best interest as well as testing.

Hell the market I'm in got EVDO *after* 4g. 😳

sprint has no $$$ to truly and effectively build out wimax, so they hope they can "hotspot" all the WalMarts in the U.S.
Data charges are here to stay and they will be capped in some way.Cable providers have even toyed with the idea of curbing the absurd oveusage of bandwith by certain users(you know who you are).

Sprint may not have a lot of
$$$ to deploy WiMAX as you say, but Clear raised $2.78bn I think it was in capital not too long ago to further expand and deploy their network.
