AT&T already has the Eternity, and it's cheaper then this phone after rebates, not to mention the Eternity has a 3.0mp camera. Why did Samsung release this now?

The eternity is going to be discontinued and replaced by the solstice. Which I really don't understand. The Solstice seems to be more on par with the Impression. Why they choose to downgrade the camera makes no sense and is kind of irritating.

Hehehe ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeah I hear you on that one. I don't have problems with making phone calls here. But 3G coverage and performance lives a lot to be desired...

Hmm....I have 3g service. I can make phone calls. I can browse the web. Heck, I can do both at the SAME TIME ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

Can Verizon, Sprint, or T-Mobile do that? Well, T-Mobile might be able to on their 3g network, but I can't be sure. Anyone know for a fact?

on verizon you can definitely do that, and in many more areas than AT&T the issue isnt whether or not there is service in metro locations, my point is when you really need it to make a call it is likely going to not be in a city setting where you probably could just hail the nearest policeman etc even tracphone has coverage in cities so im not clapping for metro coverage ๐Ÿ˜›

Verizon cannot make phone calls AND browse the web at the same time. Voice and data at the same time is not possible with CDMA. Granted, in order for GSM to handle it, you have to have 3g coverage, as it will not work on EDGE.

(EV-DO)

Part of a family of CDMA2000 1x digital wireless standards. 1xEV-DO is a "3G" CDMA standard. EV-DO originally stood for "EVolution, Data-Only", but recently is also referred to as "EVolution, Data-Optimized".

--emphasis on "data only" 3g cdma tech., vzw network is not capable of both simultaneously.

Where as 3G gsm is capable of both.

It would make sense that wifi would support both (although I've never done it) because wifi would be data and your carrier on different radios would be voice

same here. super-firewalled. It is in the phonescoop.com glossary though if you ever need to look something up. Thats a good place to look up definitions.

This site is super helpful, I recommend it to all salespersons. Specs here are spot on. The paperwork we got from LG said the Vu had 8gb mem card capability but phonescoop said 4gb max. Guess who's right? LOL

they added voice dial it looks like, from the icon on the picture. Eternity didn't have it but the vu did. That was a big difference when driving....
