😲 It saddens me to know that a store owner or someone that represents a carrier can think so low of consumers. As someone that uses these forums to learn of new technology, devices, carriers and so forth, I have learned that at least half of the Reps that post on these forums care little about our needs. Comments like these can quickly deplete any interest in the carrier represented.

There is a rally going on right now that has been brought on by consumers such as myself that have been nickle and dimed to death for over twenty years by carriers. Maybe, just maybe we are at a point that enough is enough. Exclusivity rights, high exhuberant rates, charges for every little add on. The carriers want everyone to be wireless but we as consumers are used to landline rates. While we know wireless will indeed be more expensive, mortgaging our homes is not realistic. When the average household of 5 is paying above 230 dollars a month for service, I beleive that gives us certain barganing chips. I am sure when you graduate, you will incur a good amount of financial responsibility just like the rest of us. Maybe then your opinion ma...

I am pretty much on my own. I pay my own way through school and make a living for myself. From what i've noticed with people and their plans is that they require all the features. Some of my good customers have 5 lines and pay anywhere between 100 & 150 AFTER TAX. You sir must require everything. This plans they choose are just for talking, no text. So it's not the phone companies ripping you off...it's your wants.

First off: I commend you on your independence and responsibilty. I wish you luck in the future you choose for yourself.

There is a good point to what you say in wants vs needs. However, Carriers and their reps have pretty much taken control of many offerings and price plans that do indeed manipulate most consumers into purchasing more of what is not needed. Money is made on data plans and that is the big push. An example of this is picture mail. Almost every plan offers minutes with the option of unlimited texting and pix mail. Then you can also add data. If you don't want web browsing Texting is not a problem. But once you start heavy pix mail, the chances greatly increase for mistakingly incurred data usage on the downloads. There is bi...

Slammer that is only accurate for certain companies. That is accurate for ATT but not T-mobile. At least on t-mobile if somebody sends you a pic, no data charges. If you accidently press internet button... no charge. They actually let you surf T-zones dowloads that allow you to purchse ringtones/wallpaper/etc and download the for no cost at all (you buy them of course but not charged for download).

I am not familiar with how Tmo's system works but I have Sprint, Some family members have Verizon. The way it works is that the plans offered state "Unlimited text and picture mail". Texting does not require data but picture mail does. So those of us that want the two of these messeging features but not web browsing are forced to leave the data "unblocked" anyway. Now what happens is that If you recieve pic mail and save it to your phone it is considered downloading and massive charges happen. What is the point of getting pic mail if you can't save it. So now you are forced to move up to the "Unlimited data" or not use pic mail even though your paying for it. It's pretty much an easy way for making huge mistakes whether hitting wrong buttons...

im out of school living on my own and i understand your point BUT u just kinda have to get over it. cell phone carriers r not going to adjust to they way they make money just to satisfy people. and just cause u pay alot doesnt give u anything special. u pay for what we give u. thats like going to walmart and buying 100 things and expect to get like 5-6 pf them free cause u pay so much.

Try working at a cell phone store or for that matter any retail store. Most customers are nice, most are uninformed. Many customers are nice as long as they get their way but when things don't work out, they feel it's my fault. The majority of customers that go over their minutes blame the cell phone company rather than taking responsibility themselves and they yell at me. I represent all carriers in my store and all customers are the same regardless of what carrier they are with. I do give customers the benefit of the doubt until they let loose with the four letter words when they don't get what they want.
If you ask most workers in retail, they will tell you how stupid their customers are....and they really are..

Actually I worked for Sears for 11 years. So I am quite aware of retail. It is what it is. Customer's complaints or demands come with the career. The major difference here in the wireless industry is that it has increasingly become a monopoly. More so in areas with only two carriers. Us subscribers have been left with a bag of decite, manipulation, confusion and very few choices of escaping control of the companies we pay top dollar to. So yes. I guess we are a little testy and upset. I do agree there are some customers that can probably use a backhand but this will unfortunately never go away.

You might however appreciate my next opinion.
I would rather shop at a store that sells multiple carriers than at single corporate venues. One st...

to answer the topic though.

att will get an android phone early 2010 (rumored of course) but I don't have any concrete specs for you.

also remember unlocked gsm phones with proper internet settings will work. cdma (simply no USA SIM cards) carriers like verizon and sprint cant use gsm phones.

I saw that sprint changed its tone on android and is considering carrying one, also probably 2010.

hope that helps, although the 3 versions of android still have yet to be released.
