"On to the Q&A: When will there be a GSM version. Palm expects to have one at some point in the future. What about the Verizon deal, asks Walt, noting this morning’s Verizon story this morning. Rubinstein says he can’t comment. We do love Sprint and they are our exclusive launch partner,†Rubinstein said. “It sounds like AT&T and Verizon both want it.. I can’t comment on unannounced relationships.†He notes that BellMo will distribute the Pre in Canada."

As I commented previously, Canada is getting the Pre next, this crap about Verizon and ATT is just that, CRAP!!! 😉...

I tend to agree with you. I do feel in all fairness; that Palm can not comment on such questions before a very important launch. Mr. Rubinstein's answer given does leave the answer to the question open for speculation. However, my bone of contention is that carriers seem to have gotten comfortable of saying things just for the sake of appeasing shareholders and subscribers...

All I said is that your link does not deny AT&T or Verizon's claims.
However, I would be shocked if a GSM carrier in the US (most likely AT&T) does not have the Pre within a year. It makes too much sense for Palm to NOT do that. Palm is in desperate measures and would not be well served by limiting its options.
That said, I think the Pre would be best served by being married to a Simply Everything plan.
