Palm Pre, BlackBerry Storm 2 Headed to Verizon Wireless

Article Comments  78

Verizon's Lowell McAdam recently said that it, too, expects to sell the Palm Pre. Specifically, McAdam said, "Over the next six months or so you will see devices like Palm Pre and a second generation Storm." McAdam didn't provide more specific details regarding the launch of either device, but this comes on the news that AT&T will also be selling a version of the Pre when Sprint's exclusivity runs out. Since Verizon expects to have the Pre within six months, that means Sprint's exclusive deal to sell the Pre can't be longer than that. McAdam's comments about a second-generation BlackBerry Storm confirm recent reports on the Internet that have exposed the device.

sprint exclusive for 1 yr

Pre is a Sprint exclusive for 1 year minimum and may extend based on sales. That's from palm.
WRONG....read it 6 months is what the article says i think i trust PS more than some guy from Palm. lol
...
No, Sprint does not have it for a year. Only 6 months.
...
To those saying it is 6 months, can you provide any information where a Palm or Sprint official has said it is 6 months? Not some damn blog speculating or assuming, I want to read an article which specifically quotes the comments from the horses mout...

It is so funny that a week from launch both carriers come out with SPECULATIVE statements assuming that they will get the Pre.

What is even funnier is that Verizon trolls like Sgt_Joker and VZW611LA think they know everything about the Pre and the...

Phonescoop... Enough is enough

You speculating that it WILL come to these carriers, which has not been confirmed. 😕 Its funny how At&t releases Iphone, Verizon releases Storm, and T-Mobile releases G1, you never saw these articles (on Phonescoop) from other carriers, though they existed. These are even titled, Verizon to sell Palm Pre, and At&t will sell Palm Pre. False hope, and misleading stories from Sprint haters. They MAY get it and they MAY not. You say in the story headline that they WILL be getting the Pre... Please send me a link showing your proof to this. That's like me saying Sprint WILL launch LTE when they say they MAY/ or are NOT RULING OUT the possibility of LTE.

I no longer will look towards PHONESCOOP if I want concrete evidence and true stories. I ...

Both stories are on EVERY phone/tech blog on the net so there is not much to choose from.

What Phonescoop is reporting is industry figures making statements, nothing more. The CEOs of Verizon & AT&T both said they would be getting the pre, though obviously, the degree of concrete fact behind those statements is in question.

That's all...

Official comment from Palm

Straight from the horses mouth:

"On to the Q&A: When will there be a GSM version. Palm expects to have one at some point in the future. What about the Verizon deal, asks Walt, noting this morning’s Verizon story this morning. Rubinstein says he can’t comment. We do love Sprint and they are our exclusive launch partner,” Rubinstein said. “It sounds like AT&T and Verizon both want it.. I can’t comment on unannounced relationships.” He notes that BellMo will distribute the Pre in Canada."

As I commented previously, Canada is getting the Pre next, this crap about Verizon and ATT is just that, CRAP!!! 😉...

Verizon's CEO stated that they would have it in six months. How do you take "I can't comment on unannounced relationships" that Verizon is not getting it? If you are a Sprint/CDMA fan I would think you would want Verizon to get it before the GSM carri...

How do you translate "crap" from those comments? He didn't deny either of A&T or Verizon's claims. He said Sprint is the "exclusive launch" partner. Sounds like Palm is trying really hard to not get locked into Sprint for longer than it has ...

Why it doesnt matter that VZW will get the Pre in 2010...

So Verizon may be selling the Palm Pre in Feb 2010? So what? There will be multiple new phones coming out on the new Palm Web OS. The exclusive partnership that Palm has with Sprint is not just with the Pre, but with future Web OS phones in the United States. So when Verizon comes out with the Palm Pre in February, Sprint will be coming out with a follow up to the Pre. At that point it won't much matter that Verizon has a 6 month old phone because Sprint will have a newer and more advanced Palm.

"Over the next six months or so you will see devices like Palm Pre and a second generation Storm."

Another speculative article, you people believing it are just feeding the speculation. There is nothing in that article which says it's going to Verizon. Verizons CEO: "see devices like Palm Pre." I find it odd that, not one Palm official has said the Pre is going to ATT or Verizon. I find it equally odd that, within a matter of days you have 2 CEO's from rival carriers saying pretty much the same thing, just days before the June 6th launch. Some of you probably believe the iphone is going to Verizon. 🤣
Sprint will fail to produce with the Pre then Palm will need to release to Verizon and ATT to keep afloat....Palm is doing horribly...they're probably kicking themselves for just locking down to sprint at all. and within six month all the bugs will be...

The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force.

🤣 verizon will have it in six months. i doubt with sprint small customer base that it will take off if as it will with verizon and att. i just don't see your average sprint customers coughing up 3 bills to get this thing esp when you can get the iphone and storm for 2 bills...sure to be another epic fail for sprint..too bad they could have really done well if they had thought it out..not to bright their sprint but i guess that's why millions are leaving. oh well

Clever

I guess I'll be the one to point out that this is very careful "corporate" talk. Specifically how he says "devices like Palm Pre." And since palm has already said there will be other WebOS phones I'd say that is probably more the case then them actually getting a Palm Pre this year. Especially since anyone with 1st grade math skills would know that a minimum 6 month exclusive means that they can't possibly get one in 2009 if the Pre comes out on June 6th.
