Nearly the 8th month of 2008 and I can't even get consistent speeds of over 1.5mbps, ATT's network.

Don't feel bad. I am with Sprint and neither can I but 800 to 1.2 is still not that bad.

Yeah, on avg that's about the speeds I get too, everybody is always saying they're network is fastest, but I think in all reality the 3 3G networks are about the same.

Are you getting those speeds on a handset or an aircard? I heard aircards are faster than phones. I do all my surfing on my unlocked N95.

I'm sure sometime in the 2nd half of 2009 I'll get an aircard. I also want to get one of those UltraMobile PCs, that weigh only 3 pounds, and has a 9 inch screen, and a solid state hard drive.

I am getting that speed on my laptop card. My Treo 755p gets nowhere near that speed but it is comparable to the Blackjack that I had. Why did you mention unlocked phones! I sure miss the flexibility of that 😢

But since I am a Sero customer, when I see my bill I am like 😁

So its all good for now 🙂

as a technical note, you will not be able to get the speeds out of your phones as you do the aircards. the processors are much smaller in your phones. and don't forget about that dreaded signal strength. the speeds are also weighed on internet congestion and backhauls. if your getting 1.5mbs, I agree, your actually doing pretty good. what carrier you have is important too. AT&T is mostly edge at this point. Edge is much slower than REV.A which Verizon and sprint use. AT&T is quickly rolling out their HSDPA which is technically faster but its is not in all areas yet. check your city. but with your speeds your getting I would most definitely say you are running off HSDPA.

Well we have HSDPA here in Houston and throughout Texas but I love the price and service I get with my aircard but cellular wise is a different ball game. The coverage is not as good here and I really miss the flexibility of being able to purchase unlocked phones. But for now I will enjoy the savings but I know that I will switch back to AT&T one day.

I hear what your saying. I have Sprint and absolutely have enjoyed the service and speed of the network. I can't wait for WiMax which Sprint is going to roll out shortly. but until then I will enjoy what I have. thanks for the chat. 🙂

Sprint has a few phones that run on Rev.A (Mogul, Touch, Instinct, 800W) but for the most part the data on phones has been Rev.O, slightly less but far better than 1x
