The End of MyCircle???

I would be curious to know if VZW will grandfather those plans for Alltel customers, force them to change their plan off MyCircle, or maybe take a Sprint Nextel approach and eventually adopt them for all their subscribers??? Any thoughts on this?

I would like to see Verizon add the My Circle to there line up. I would hate to see them drop that feature. I know several people that use Alltel just because 1. better coverage and 2. My Circle out does the $99.99 unlimited plans.

In lots of areas such as mine after alltel is gone there is really only once circle to be a part of which offers free verizon to verizon calls. Sprint is here too but they lose more customers than they gain.

Forgive me while i take offense...

In lots of areas such as mine after alltel is gone there is really only once circle to be a part of which offers free verizon to verizon calls. Sprint is here too but they lose more customers than they gain.

What the hell is that supposed to mean??? Because Sprint doesnt have the customer base it did just last year its no longer an option for cellular service, despite the fact that they came out with the best unlimited plan, theres been no reduction in services offered, and they continually release more phones than the other carriers (this year for sure)??? Honestly, some of you guys need to get a life and stop beating a dead dog ablut this OLD bad press. They took a HUGE loss for Nextel, and mov...

I like the new CEO of Sprint but they are the Gateway of the cell phone world people love to root for them but it isn't going to happen they are bleeding chips and I don't think no matter how much the whore themselves out on their plans their customer service and other such things kill them.

I'd have to agree. I would be willing to bet that at least 75% of my port-ins each month are from Sprint, and of those, I'd say half say they're leaving because of customer service issues, and the other half leave due to horrible coverage.

Unlimited plan customers are a minority, and the ones who want unlimited EVERYTHING are an extremely small minority, so who really cares if Sprint has the best one? I'll take being able to use my phone wherever I go over being able to talk and text as much as I want inside the city limits any day thanks.

Lets ignore the fact that Alltel had a larger geographical coverage map than anyone. Let's also play stupid to the fact that Alltel pioneered anytime plan changes. No, let's just be little boys and make non sensical jokes 🙄
Verizon bought Alltel for a reason and it wasn't be cause they had nothing going for them. Think before ya post, dude 😉

From my understanding Alltel's larger geographical coverage map was largely due to roaming agreements they had with other carriers. They are currently only in about 34 states. Anytime plan changes was not pioneered by Alltel, all the big boys did it too, and wasn't anytime plan changes with no contract extension started by US Cellular?

I have always thought Alltel to be a good company and I think this is a good move for both parties. It would be nice if VZW would keep My Circle but I doubt it, if they wanted to do that they would have by now. The big one would be if they moved to 7pm nights, again I doubt that will happen. All of this is just speculation though, we are not the decision makers and only time will tell what will really happ...

Alltel made the right friends to be able to make such a claim. It didn't hurt that they bought out Western Wireless either.
If Verizon doesn't get happy with the post-merge knife, I also think it's beneficial for both companies. We'll see who and how many get cut.

Alltel didn't pioneer anytime rate plan changes. I've been with US Cellular since 1991 and they have NEVER requireed a new contract JUST for swapping plans.

Yeah you had a lot going for you sophomoric commercials poking fun at competitors 3-7 times your size and your 22 billion in debt. Yeah you had a lot going for you. Verizon stole Alltel because it wasn't worth much to begin with they really only paid a little over 5 billion so they could say they were bigger than at&t that's what this came down to because you really aren't improving Verizon's coverage area you are just giving them pr and decreasing roaming agreements by 1.

Lets face it, Alltel had to do those sort of promotions to keep up with carriers much larger customer bases and much better customer service the same way sprint is being squeezed right now was well.

That, and Verizon will probably cripple Alltel's phones, too!

you know hearing that argument that crippling the UI on phones is getting real old to hear...att has their UI loaded on a lot of their phones as well bout the same as verizon...if you really need to bluetooth remote start your car then buy the phone as it was meant to be from the manufacturer themself and quit complaining...

probably effective by the end of the year. Those who have it at that point will keep it and no new contracts or plan upgrades will be able to get it.

It is too early to say anything. We are still awaiting the federal approval. Verizon does not even know what is going to happen to the My Circle.

Customers are going to lose the capability to call those 1, 5, 10 and 20 customers on other networks. Having 60 Million people on Verizon's network does squat for me if all of the people I call are on a network other than Verizon/Alltel.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Thankfully I just signed up with Alltel so I should have 2 years of my circle regardless of Verizon's decisions.
Verizon really needs to keep this feature going though. Right now they are the only company that does not give one single minute-saving feature to its customers. AT&T has rollover and evenings starting at 7, T-Mobile has My Faves and very cheap calling plans with lots of minutes, and Sprint/Nextel has evenings starting at 6 or 7 and free incoming call plans. Verizon has nothing.
Hopefully they will make a wise decision here. It doesn't affect me much because most people i know have Verizon so once the transition is complete, i will have the free mobile to mobile feature to take advantage ...

they must think "if everyone is on vzw then..." which is pretty funny... but with all things considered, and all the other networks offering those things and vzw not, they still seem to be doing pretty well

yeah, even though they are the most expensive company, you can't deny that they have great coverage throughout the country and a pretty good selection of phones. I will just keep my fingers crossed about the my circle issue. It would be very beneficial for the Alltel cusotmers they are acquiring as well as bring in many future customers to Verizon.

Yeah, I was being a bit sarcastic. In all fairness, I work for a Verizon indirect agent, so I've got loyalties. But it would be nice if Verizon offered some sort of minute-saving feature beyond the standard fare stuff.

Yeah they will grandfather your alltell plan and you'll probably get to go month to month due to alltells no contracts. But the moment you upgrade a phone or want to make a change is when they will get you onto a contract and one of their price plans.

Well, I do believe you are mistaken. Verizon changed their "contract required for price plan changes" over a year and a half ago. You can make a change at anytime, without extending your contract.

As far as the other side, that when you upgrade your phone, you have to re-sign a contract? No. You can always pay full retail and not extend your contract; However, just as it is with EVERY other provider, if you wish to have a discounted price on a new phone, and you ARE eligible, then yes, a contract of some nature is required.

It's the whole "if you agree to stay with us for [x amount of years] we will then give you a discount on the phone of your choice.

It's that simple
