I think its safe to say that the current us postal service is going to be failing pretty shortly with its need to deliver mail to almost every house in the country when half of the mail now is just junk anyway. I think that the government should start to think about replacements for it one of them being a government controlled e-mail system with a street address instead of a personalized e-mail address as the alias. The system would work much like the current postal system in that there would be a small fee for sending messages in order to maintain the network and also this would almost completely eliminate the current business model for e-mail spam, postal spams model would still work but I'm sure when junk mail isn't the only thing holdi...

i just want to know 1 thing... do you really think that everyday people are so stupid that the government has to step in and run everything? is that what you want? why?

If you work retail you get to see how people actually are.

Dumb, lazy and unwilling to learn.

80% of people fall into this category and need to be told how to do everything.

I don't think that would work very well at all. Why would I send a toll mail via an electronic system that the government can read what and to whom you are sending when I can send an encrypted e-mail with my current mail provider for a flat access that I'm paying anyway?

Would every resident who wishes to receive mail have to purchase pricey electronic devices for that reason? What would happen to groups that do not use electricity, like some of the Amish, would they not be allowed to use a tax payer funded system for the public?

And how would a mother send a care package to her son or daughter in college? Would she just want to send a bolt of an electrical shock for him?

Yea. But over all it's not a bad idea, one of the better ones I have heard.

It could work as it's own system not a goverment postal service......that will never be replaced for the reasons in the previous post.

Did you know that the USPS isn't liable for delays due to an act of God? I just thought it was funny coming from a Government run service...
