amazingly, we're only a regional provider and we still cover more square miles than you. In rural coverage, Verizon plays second fiddle. Say what you will, but there's money to be had there and Alltel's las Profit Statment reflected as such.

Sorry I'm having a hard time believing that one, I need some proof that Alltel covers more square miles then VZ. Both VZ and Alltel have good rural coverage, I just don't think Alltel has more. I know for sure they don't in my area.

Here's Alltel's coverage map:

Here's VZW's:

Verizon is on extended network in my area, but what's covered and not covered in my or your area is highly irrelevant in this argument. We're talking TOTAL coverage geographically, not whether or not your own house is within a stone's throw of a tower.

They look almost exactly the same. Also you said they have more square miles of coverage, when I said I wanted proof I didn't want a picture I want numbers and to know where you got those numbers from.

So because they got it out a week earlier, you felt that warranted a an entire "Big Deal" thread? ๐Ÿคจ

Being 2nd fiddle to Verizon makes him a little sensitive and saying Alltel has better rural coverage than Verizon gave me a good laugh. Alltel's roaming agreement to use Verizon towers must really help you little guys out huh?

Speaking as a former Verizon Wireless customer for 9 years, I don't understand why there is so much chatter about a phone that GSM carriers have had since June of 2007 ๐Ÿคจ

Still its a nice phone, I saw the Sprint version and have to say, it looks real nice. I don't use CDMA, and it being out for a few weeks on Alltel or Sprint or with AT&T near a year doesn't change the fact. Good BB, good price and does what it needs to do.

Looks like I ruffled some feathers lol. The authorized agent I work for makes a killing off of converting vzw customers who move to the rural areas some of our stores occupy. You'll have to explain to us "little guys" (who still cover more square mileage than vzw) how the fact that Alltel gets better rural coverage than vzw is due to the fact that we bounce off vzw's towers. I guess Verizon just blocked their signals on those particular ones, huh?

If I can say one thing about vzw it's that they are usually on the cutting edge with new phones. Not so in this case. Forget about Alltel, this handset has been out awhile anyway. So yeah, big deal. Can you honestly say you are excited about vzw's version of the curve?

Yes. I am honestly happy that Verizon has gotten the Curve. My current phones are a Motorola Q (yeah, thank God for Total Equipment Coverage. I am on my tenth one and I do not even use the thing for voice...just to tether as a modem) and my trusty LG VX 8300. I swore that I would not give Verizon one more cent for a phone for myself (my mother and my girlfriend usually insist on upgrading once a year though) now with the Curve out I may have to eat those words. It would be really great to have access to my email on the go. I want a blackberry with a camera and a full keyboard. Verizon has not had it before now and now they have it so to answer your question, Yes. I am really excited about this phone.
