Time to pay up!

Come on Sprint...Verizon needs some mula after the 700 MHz auction. That and if you can spent over 100 mill to promote the Instinct why can't you come up with 10% of that to pay your bills?

Why would ANYONE give a royal, flying EFF what a company that they don't even do business with goes under or not? That's thousands and thousands of American jobs! Wouldn't you prefer Sprint get back on track (which they will, they have plenty of money and right CEO now) and keep your wireless bills down with it's competitive balance? Obviously these people are sheer morons for wishing this. No other explanation, really. You made your choice to switch companies if you didn't like them, now you have no right to wish unemployment on thousands and move the industry towards even more of a monopoly. Freaking idiots!

Actually, Sprint's biggest roaming partner is Alltel, and they are the ones who provide most of the rural coverage. Verizon is similar to Sprint in that it mainly covers towns and cities near the interstate highway system, as do all the national carriers.

Verizon is always wanting more money! They can't squeeze anymore out of their customers so they have to go after other carriers.

Hey Verizon, note to self: Don't write checks that your butt can't cash (700MHz spectrum) and then expect everyone to "Help you out!"

This isn't schoolyard gossip, this is a breach of legal contract. We don't need to hear both sides of the story, the bottom line is that Sprint violated a mutually agreed upon LEGAL contract.

No, your wrong, Syph3r is right, we haven't heard both sides of the story yet. Just because Verizon filed suit doesn't mean they are right....what kind of tool are you anyway? When the lawsuit is settled you can make stupid comments like "the bottom line is that Sprint violated a mutually agreed upon LEGAL contract.", assuming of course Verizon even wins the lawsuit...again none of us has all the information. You don't know the terms of the contracts....don't post again until you actually have something worthwhile to post....tool!

Wilocrek,

Since you chose to attack me on a personal level right off the bat, I am going to assume you don't have a lot of evidence to back up any arguments you just made and were just looking to stir things up.

First of all, go google what a Interconnection between wireless carriers is and how they are handled.

Second of all, read the full article in question next time. Not just the excerpt from Phonescoop. Had you done that, you would have found this quote from a SPRINT Spokesperson,

“Because Verizon’s claims in this matter are running up against a two-year statute of limitations, this complaint comes as no surprise -- this is simply a standard legal maneuver by Verizon to preserve their legal claim aga

Read the article, sprint basically even admitted to being past due. They owe verizon money, they are past due won't pay. A lawsuit is totally within verizon's right and they should have done it.

I could not agree more...If I don't pay my Sprint bill they will cut me off and then send it to collections if it's not resolved in a timley manner. Why should it be any different if it's carrier to carrier. You owe the money so pay it...if not it will only cost you more in court. It looks as it Sprint may have been trying to pull a fast one and eclips the 2 year statue of limitations and then skip on the bill but who knows.

While I don't know the exact arrangement of Sprint's debt to Verizon, I suspect that they may have 'late fees' and charges to pay for holding out as well. For all anyone knows, Verizon may have been holding out, as they're making a lot of money off 'late fees' that they can collect off of Sprint.

You have obviously haven't been reading all of the articles that have been poping up.

https://www.phonescoop.com/news/item.php?n=2906 »

The direct quote out of the phonescoop article says:

"Verizon needs to make a $1.4 billion dollar down payment on April 3, and will have to pay the remaining $7.5 billion by April 17. Verizon wireless already has over $31 billion in debt, and only $1.15 billion in cash. Verizon's spectrum winnings totaled $9.36 billion."

Did you see the 31 billion dollars debt????? and the fact that they only have 1.15 billion in cash on hand????? You missed that one.....didn't ya!!!!!

Verizon is in debt and if they don't find a ton of money fast they might loose out!

Oh and guess what today's date is April...

Maybe because what Sprint supposedly "owes" them is a disputed area, thus the "ongoing squabble." If Sprint was really ducking out on this bill, don't you thing VZW would simply cut off the service to them?

Verizon and Sprint are obviously disputing a certain aspect of a larger bill for quite some time, and both sides have failed to come to an agreement. Verizon is merely preventing the statute of limitations from running out by filing this suit. They obviously hope that the courts will see it the...
