We're following the leader, the leader, the leader
We're following the leader wherever he may go
We won't be home till morning, till morning
We won't be home till morning

Actually AT&T is the largest cell phone carrier in the US, with 70.1 million subscribers.

just because you have the most subscribers doesnt mean you are a leader.

When is the last time other carriers copied something from you?

They did allow people to change their plans and features, add, subtract whatever without a contract extension, years before other major nationwide carriers. Unlike other major carriers where you sneezed, they extended you. So while I agree they played follow the leader on other issues, that is a standard business practice.

Well actually no carrier has ever copied anything from me. I think that would be ridiculous as I am just a person and the carrier is a massive telecommunications corporation.

But AT&T, however, has set the bar for many issues. Contract change policy was the first in the industry for the large Telcos, and also the 30 day buyers remorse period. Every company has followed in those footsteps.

Ashdizzle is not "right in many ways!!!" She simply says that ATT has the most subscribers. They only have that many/passed Verizon because At&T and Cingular merged. Verizon still has the BEST network, least drop calls by far, WAY more rural area coverage, 1st in Consumer Reports every year for 6 years. There are people that like Verizon, there are people that like AT&T. People know Verizon has the best Network and its the network that counts.

And what do you think Verizon is? Verizon came into being in from the combining of the likes of Bell Atlantic Mobile, NYNEX Mobile, AirTouch, PrimeCo, and GTE MobileNet, not to mention being partially parented by UK-based Vodafone. That made them the biggest at the time but no less a conglomeration of former smaller operators. Didn't stop them from touting themselves as being the biggest until the AT&T/Cingular deal left them second in total subscribers.

There is no one right system for everyone. Verizon can't touch AT&T for coverage here. Likewise there are places AT&T hasn't matched VZW. It's all about what works best for each customer. If the separation were really all that big VZW would have retaken the lead long ago. The Cons...
