This phone looks like another crappy addition to an already crappy Samsung lineup.

I think a lot of people lost faith in Samsung a looong time ago. I know I did. (Case in point: Samsung SCH-U420. Possibly worst phone known to mankind.)

Hey, don't forget the A630 and its faulty hinge. I had 3 customers that all knew each other and I knew them, they all came in on the same day with broken hinges. Try tell them it's not Samsung's fault.

I'm not dissing this phone too much, I'm sure it's a decent phone, but it really doesn't add anything to the U540, or cell phones in general. It's just a rehash of the RAZR.

Same crap, different packaging. Maybe a few "new" features, but that's it. It probably is decent, just kind of gets boring after a while.

You guys have to remember that most of the Verizon Wireless customers really don't care about the phone features as long as it has the general stuff (e.g. camera, mp3 player, speakerphone, bluetooth, voicemail, caller ID, etc.). The conservative consumer base, known as the 90% of total Verizon Wireless customers, care more about how the package is delivered rather than the package itself.

I'm aware of that. And personally, I don't care for looks that much either. But it's the same old thing as before, nothing really new. Or at least that's how it seems. Doesn't appear to be worth it that much for the price, either. But I'm sure it's a fine phone, just not something I'd get excited about myself.

add: I guess it doesn't matter really if that's what you're looking for. But it still seems too pricey for what it is.

I think Verizon is just trying to get 'new' phones out. But they aren't all 'new'. It does seem very, very, basic but I guess they think if they bring new things, they will get more upgrades but in this case, I would keep my current phone OR just get something better (Voyager, enV, something that I wouldn't mind keeping for two years). You know what I mean?

Well I guess there's only soo much you can to do a phone before you start including advance features that allow for multiple system integration that may turn away the conservative customer base.

Basic/standard features that can be developed for everyday users has reached a plataeu in my opinion. What else can you add to a phone that's considered "standard" for the "basic" needs?

I guess only time and evolution will tell.
