Hwere's hoping that Apple and the iPhone forces Verizon and other compnaies into a position where they can't dictate the features on every device.
Your Senators and Congressmen are too busy taking money from them and listening to their lobbyists to protect our rights. Have they successfully beat back the move to force them to allow any FCC approved device on their networks?

Yeah, forget Iraq, illegal immigration, and even more relevant mobile phone issues like the whole qualcom/broadcom thing. write your senators and congressmen and tell them to pass a law requiring a higher megapixel camera on the q.

First: That 'lousy' interface is optional, you can choose to have a regular if you want, all you have to do is press and hold a button.
Second: Talking about crippled phone, iWhatever is more crippled then this Q. Besides, they (Apple) just came out with s/w upgrade 1.0.2, witch wipes the iphone and crashes the backup. Way to go =) read about it on engadgetmobile...

Hell yeah it would be nice. People are switching b/c of phones and not the service, which goes to show how much the technology and the actual phone plays a part in consumer decisions. Those are my 2 cents.

Well just give it time, soon every cell phone carrier will have some manufacturer making their version of the IPhone, though personally I work for at&t and I am NOT impressed with the IPhone. I think that a lot of people who rushed out to buy it are now regretting the descion, as with every new format of phone...bugs galore. Wait a year and then jump on the IPhone band wagon, give them time to figure out what kinks the phone has and work them out. If you want reliable with the same features then I would suggest any of the other MP3 phones that we sell.

He's absolutely correct, it is a privilege, in the sense of services. It called a luxury service. A land line is a basic service. Luxury services are considered a privilege due to the fact that you pay more to get more. Now if a company doesn't offer what you want, you have the right to move to another company that does offer what you want.

Did you forget to take your meds today? Ever think that somethings were downgraded just so that the phone could work on Vzw? A lot of companies have to do that just so that 100% of the features on their phone will work. For instance, Vzw and Sprint phone with 2.0 mp or less are kept that way for the time being until their networks can handle an image over 512kb. Just a thought, but try and think of why a company would do such a thing when its NOT profitable... Really, they wouldn't spend money on your lobbyists just to downgrade a phone.
