Especially considering the fact that other PTT formats use an ENTIRE voice channel to make a call, compared to Nextel PTT call, which uses about 1/10 of the bandwidth.
A HUGE consideration when you have 500 people inside one building hammering down on their
phones at the same time.

Yeat so true. Their walkie talkie system is dedicated and independent of the phone system. They use a dispatch application processor to run the Direct Connect so it's blazing fast and not tied down by cell service at all. Of course that's why you have a separate walkie talkie number instead of using your cell number to connect. Way more efficient.

you're nuts dude...they may have "prettier" PPT phones yes, but the actual PPT service, as well as every other service AT&Touch holes offers..is utter crap, there network sucks, there PPT time doesnt even touch nextel, and there internet is so 1993, I feel like when I was 13yrs old falling asleep in front of the computer waiting for AOL dial-up to connect...get real service before you run your mouth about phones..personally, I could give a flying ***t abo...

Cingular and Nextel are both reasonably good companies but lets be honest right Nextel buddies? If a cingular guy is gonna come up to you and say "drrr... hey .... That feature comes in REAL handy! This is especially true if you have small children and travel outside your coverage area.
We are in the process of potty training my son and sometimes my wife and I must separate from each other to find a restroom for him at a moment's notice. The best part is we can stay in touch no matter where we are, even off network.
