bad move
I don't understand why a company who is struggling to get market share with their mobile OS would limit the sale of a FLAGSHIP phone to a single carrier even for a short period of time. Initial release is vital to a phone's success. I will be very disappointed if this turns out to be true.

Welp, some sources have partially refuted CNET's story. (And CNET has updated their article, removing the word "exclusive".) It looks like it won't be truly "exclusive" after all. We've updated the story to reflect that.
That's doesn't mean anyone else will take it. AT&T may well be the only one that wants it.
Or T-Mobile may offer it. I wouldn't bet on that, but it's possible.

I agree with the original poster. IMO, even if Microsoft gets other carriers to pick it up, the damage is already done. People with VZW/Sprint/T-Mo that are interested in looking at Windows 10 Mobile and Microsoft's hardware will have lost interest by the time Microsoft recovers from this apparent blunder. All of yesterdays oohs & aahs will have lost their momentum.
Also, not having any other mainstream phone manufacturers with Windows 10 Mobile announcements yesterday shows how naive Microsoft is, thinking that their hardware can carry the day for Windows 10 Mobile.
Kudos to MS for the great Surface hardware, and for Windows 10 in general, but they are obviously effectively clueless about the mobile phone market. The lack of committme...
