But according to Engadget, it's going to be only 100 songs in your pocket

So that's really not quite the same, is it?

I hope they are wrong. I don't think it will do too well with only 100 songs. People like carrying their whole collection with them.

"1,000 songs in your pocket changed everything. Here we go again."

By this statement they are refering to how the Ipod changed everything, and that this phone will do it again.

100 songs is absolutely no surprise at all. The ROKR E1, like most MP3 phones, will have a TransFlash slot, which at the moment limits it to 512 MB cards max. 512 MB is only enough for about 100 songs, and not even at the best quality.

The 512 MB iPod Shuffle only holds (at most) 120 songs... this is no different, and no different from any other phone without a hard drive.

Hard drive phones are coming, but I don't think anyone expected the very first iTunes phone to be a hard drive phone. At least, no one following the rumor mill...

this article in forbes says that one demo model had an artificial cap of 25 songs no matter what size memory card was in the Transflash slot.

it may be that moto and apple decided to artificially cap the phone at 100 songs in the end.
