Apple?

Is apple still going to come out with an Ipod phone? And are they still thinking of becoming an MVNO?

Overpriced, Underfeatured fashion statement.

That is what they Ipod is, and frankly, it is a piece of junk. I work for a MAJOR retailer that sells all models of Ipod, and I see TONS come in every day for service or return. And that's not because they are sold more often. We also sell iRiver, Creative, and Samsung to name a few, and combined, we see less returns/service requests than for ipods, and we sell more.

If the phone shares any of apples design "greatness" or motorolas "guiness", then prepare to be disappointed! This will have nothing to do with what network it landed on. Even the greatest carriers and networks cant turn a piece of junk into a competiteve sellign tool.

The support costs, and not to mention, the mobs of pissed off customers at their phone, which suck...

There are better choices...

Basically all this phone is is a white E398 with iTunes on it. I already have the E398 and the Java MP3 player works fine, and its not like I am going to be able to hold more songs if I get this phone. The Nokia N91 (4GB) and Sony Ericsson W800 (512MB like the E1/ROKR, but with an awesome 2MP camera and better design) are better choices.

But according to Engadget, it's going to be only 100 songs in your pocket

So that's really not quite the same, is it?

I hope they are wrong. I don't think it will do too well with only 100 songs. People like carrying their whole collection with them.
"1,000 songs in your pocket changed everything. Here we go again."

By this statement they are refering to how the Ipod changed everything, and that this phone will do it again.
100 songs is absolutely no surprise at all. The ROKR E1, like most MP3 phones, will have a TransFlash slot, which at the moment limits it to 512 MB cards max. 512 MB is only enough for about 100 songs, and not even at the best quality.

The 512 MB i...

which phone?

will this phone be the ROKR announced at motonow, or the phone that just scored FCC approval - the e790?? see link:

I think engadget mentioned the ROKR but thats a good question. I guess we will have to wait and see.
"ROKR" is a line of Motorola music phones, not just one model. Some will have iTunes, others will not. Some will have hard drives, others will not.

The very first iTunes phone will be the FCC-approved model originally named E790, but it won't be ca...
