No Risk - No Reward

Sprint and the rest of the US operators have played it safe for a long time. That is the nature of the game of a national operator of course but consolidation may mean less risk taking overall.

That presents sprint with an opportunity. Do they play it safe as verizon and cingular certainly will or do they take a chance.

Sprint is in a unique position because one of the terms of the merger was that sprint-nextel must do something with the MMDS spectrum within 4 years. The only logical solution for a next generation network is flarion's flash OFDM.

Why? It is the only mobile broadband tech that works and has the backing of a major vendor (qualcomm). The other options will not be ready in time. Plus, flarion can do VoIP, mobility, and...
