That is so effing ignorant. I just moved from Virginia to Kansas and Time Warner couldn't make it out for three days to hook our cable and internet up. My wife and I WORK different schedules so I can't leave my EVO 3D at home all the time for the tethering for her. Virgin Mobile's Mifi worked like a charm for us to check work email and surf, etc. It serves it's purpose.

What would constitute as "ghetto internet"?

Better yet, why even use the term "ghetto" in the first place?

Sigh. Mr. Stick, meet Mr. Mud. It's a joke, blokes. Virgin is prepaid. Prepaid is mostly for ghetto customers who are either committing crimes and need disposable phones, or their credit sucks, and they're dodging creditors. Whenever I've hired someone, a ghetto phone is a red flag to me. 20 out of 20 times, that number is useless 2 weeks later, and they get fired for showing up late 2 weeks straight! Its internet ghetto-osity is further cemented by its 256 kbps cap. Don't blame me for your sensitivity to your plight.

You sure do feel strongly about something that's a joke BLOKE. I used to sale cellular service and even though I never made money off prepaid sales it has it's purpose. Older couples sometimes don't wanna commit to a contract and sometimes responsible young people don't. But to peg all prepaid customers as ghetto is completely and utterly ignorant BLOKE.

So you're both saying prepaid is for convicts, deadbeats, AND senior citizens. Duly noted. I'd forgotten about Tracfone's Mannyfone commercials. You were offended by what was originally a joke post, and felt you had to bitch about someone else's opinion?! But I'm ignorant. Please get off our internet and go back to driving 45 on the freeway, bitching about these kids and their noise, and sitting on your front porch scowling at the world. Come to think of it--I know convicts who do those things too! Intriguing...

Wow, and now you are asserting that we're convicts?

We must have touched a nerve or something. Lol

You said that "prepaid is for people who are looking for disposable phones because they commit crimes" and "for people with bad credit looking to dodge their creditors".

In the description, you consistently used the word "ghetto" and then when I called you out on your ignorance, you said that I was "overly sensitive about my plight".

How can you know whether or not I have a plight to begin with?

Oh wait: you're judgemental! That explains how you think that everyone that uses prepaid services are "ghetto" and "criminals, etc."

Despite all evidence to the contrary (parents get them for kids, people who don't like to be on contr...

Lol, "sensitivity to my plight?"

Good job of the assumptions there, buddy!

There are many people that use prepaid phones aside from the narrow view of people that you think you apparently sell to.

Some people do not want to sign a two year agreement on a contract.

Some people may not have good credit, but it does not mean that they are dodging creditors. That is an extremely elitist assumption of someone who buys a prepaid phone.

And since when does a 200 or 300 dollar smartphone constitute as a "disposable phone"?

So a data cap on a no contract service equates to the user being "ghetto"?

You still haven't defined what that term even means.

For someone that said "it was a joke", you sure have a lot of "reasons" for cl...

people trying to buy phones with EBT cards is funny though, i always think to myself who is going to pay the bill if your not employed, oh wait it is me and you. get a bank account, it doesn't cast anything to get a debit card from the right banks. hell if you don't trust banks you can get a green dot. but please do not try to order phones with an EBT. 😈

Seemed like a smart move to me.

VM uses the Sprint network, so data speeds are OK. Not amazing, not dial-up, but OK, and better than AT&T was where I live.

When I was with AT&T I was paying $65+/mo for 350 min, no text plan, and 2GB of data (plus $10/GB after that, which I never got close to).

With VM I pay $25/mo for 300 min, unlimited text, and unlimited data that will be slowed down after 2.5GB (but no extra cost). Oh, and no 2 year contract to sign.

The downside is no access to high end phones that I neither need nor want anyway.
