Droid X Owners Will Get Android FroYo Tomorrow
Meh
Be ready for:
-More force closings
-Sluggish speed
-YouTube glitches
-Data not connecting
-Pinch zoom loosing quality
-Battery drains faster
-Home screen having to load after exiting an app
-Flash 10.1 which means more load time for websites due to Flash advertisements.
For those who's seen my past posts will know I was Android "fanboy" but this is the experience I've had with mine and I couldn't take it anymore. I'm back to using a dumbphone and using my iPod Touch for all my smartphone needs. ...

-speed: See aboce
-in the youtube app or the website? m.youtube.com is so great now, built in app kinda pointless imo
-Flash can be set to load "On demand" which speeds up website loading considerably.
Have you tried a full factory reset on the phone? You're not using it at the moment, so it can't hurt, especially if you ran a task killer.
As for the factory reset I don't feel like having to go back and redownload everything and get all my setting back again. I shouldn't have to do that anyway. Whenever I had to reset my iPod I just synced it with iTunes and it was back the way I had it, with Android if I reset it I have to go back and do it all over again. That's like formatting a PC, waste of time.
What I'm merely pointing out is within a year of having a Droid it turned into junk with the constant updates. This is poor quality control. Just because it's a Android device doesn't mean it's awsome. I...

Personally I question the decision to allow froyo in general and flash specifically on the original Droid. It just doesn't have the specs for it. Apple won't allow ios4 on anything below a 3gs and for good reason. At least Verizon gave you the option.
Froyo on my evo absolutely kicks ass and I suspect it might be even better on the dx.
Hardware wise, it flies with Froyo.
And when I told Verizon that my battery was running down too fast even Verizon said to use Task Killer! I'm not a mind reader, I can't tell what Task Killer does till someone tells me. I wish people would quit hating on me because I voice out about problem I've had. Nobody said anything when I talked about how great Android was when I first got it. But by golly when I say something...

You didn't do yourself any favors by comparing it to an apple product... and in a way that incinuated that it was superior
Its easy for people to get defensive when you do that and even easier when people can point to a 3rd party program as a probably (although no confirmed) culprit.
Decent article with information straight from the developers of Android on why that program is not the best to run.
My take on the scenario is this: OpenOffice is pretty awesome, as is GIMP, Audacity is great for making ringtones loud as hell and trimming them. Those are all free, and cause no problems.
If I were to try to install Norton, or McAfee it is guaranteed to cause some problems and I would be just as liable to get a virus if I start searching for pr0n. Because they are TERRIBLE programs.
So are all the third party applications used by computer manufacturers to control WiFi (Windows does it natively). So why have that software?
After 2.1, you coul...

This is why Google blocked the API's used by these programs so that they CANNOT work anymore (this is why it seems broken in Froyo, this is intentional) So you're not killing them, you're just telling them to restart. task killers are seriously that Bad.
Once you're sitting on 2.2 for awhile, whenever you do a reset, your entire phone will redownload once you sync your email after a wipe. This is built into the OS now.
My dad upgraded to 2.2 a...

Whether you agree with me or not (anyone here) you have to admit something, there shouldn't be this kind of drama with the device. I'm saying this with complete honesty, and because I know alot of iPhone users. But they say they rarely have OS problems. They also say the iPhone isn't perfect but when something messes up Apple jumps in and fixes it. Some have had their iPhone for over 2 years and love it. Why is it that I have a device that worked great when I first got it, even with Task Killer, but now it works like garbage?
I'm not being...

What you're doing (blaming android) is like someone who sets his video card on his computer to run at max...

Yes I used Task Killer constantly. For a long time it worked great but ever since 2.2 the apps kept turning themselves back on no matter how many times I killed them.Unistall the Task Killer
As for the factory reset I don't feel like having to go back and redownload everythingThe apps ARE the problem. Deleting them and starting over is the ONLY way to pull yourself out of the grave you've dug for yourself.
This is poor quality control. You can thank Google for the lack of quality control IN THE ANDROID MARKETPLACE because it's downloading tons of free apps written by novice, garbage programmers that broke your phone, not Froyo. Start opening your wallet and gett...

Apple's isn't perfect, but I can't name a single way in which the Android ecosystem could be worse. There's a lockdown on access to applications but none of the quality control on a platform trying to branch out to every cell phone sold.
No, there is a lockdown on access to the Market, apps themselves are not restricted (unless the developer chooses to do so)
Heck, Gameloft keeps most of their titles OFF the market.
I have hard reset twice due to shiesty apps, which sucks, but I don't have to have anything special to get my phone back into working order, no apps, no computer syncing. Just have to sit down and do it.
I used to think iTunes was just stupid but now that I ...

2.2 allows applications to be saved to the memory card. The games/apps that I have on my phone are all backed up to memory card, and the progress saved there, as well as user settings for my remote desktop software.
