Apple-Nokia Feud Escalates
Nokia out of the US market within 15 months?
One might say this is decent payback for the suit by Nokia against Apple for alleged infringements, but I think this is just plain dumb. Nokia has been making smartphones for the US market since 2002, and Apple's iPhone just arrived in 2007. It is clear to me that Nokia was already here long before Apple entered the smartphone market, and given this established record for Nokia smartphones and Symbian S60/S80 in the US, and the royalties already paid to Nokia, I feel that Apple doesn't really have a leg to stand on.
If the...

Now with reguards to what you said about Nokia making smartphones for the U.S. since 2002, I think it's sad that recently ATT has refused to carry the BEST smartphones that Nokia makes, N95/N97.
ATT shouldn't be dictating the market. ATT doesn't represent the customers.
T-Mobile also, the Nokia N900 works on Tmo's 3G network, but they haven't given any indication of offering that beast of a smartphone.
I don't really use the webkit browser all that much, mostly Opera Mini. I've been happy with my N95 for 2yrs. But now I'm ready to upgrade to an Android smartphone, preferably one that is identical to the Nexus One but with a slide-out keyboard. It will be fun to have a smartphone that has a robust app marketplace, so I can play fun 3D games, and whatever other useful apps there might be.
I'm waiting to see what Android devices HTC makes that are compatible with ATT's 3G network.
Personally, I've never heard of S80.
Somehow I doubt that S60 was ever your favorite smartphone OS... you talk in your other posts like you'd love to see it burn to the ground. How did you ever become the Anti-Nokia?
And it is sad that none of the major carriers choose Nokia's high end smartphones these days. I still remember how AT&T used to carry the Nokia 9300, the E62, and the N75, which were decent phones (though they were much better when unbranded). The E71x was a decent pick by AT&T, but they have not gone for any other decent E-series or N-series phones. As for the Nokia Surge, that has been a rare disappointment in my opinion. I was happy to see AT&T recently carry some S60 phones, but at the same time I wish they would carry more of the better ones, and not the Surge.
I think alot of people nowadays don't care what k...

The N900 is definetly one beast of a phone, that's for sure.
Unbranded devices are always better, carriers need to bud out of the entire phone industry. The only job they need to do is to provide a damn signal to our own private cell phones.
I feel the same way you do about carriers. I am tired of being locked into two-year contracts with a selection of junk phones. I want to buy my own phone, an...

The Surge, well it isn't my cup of tea, and the problem is AT&T made a big mistake putting it on a $30 data plan, if they sold it as a medianet phone, my opinion of it would change. This is a paramount texting phone, and people who were willing to get it for their teenagers, most likely will back down to do monthly cost. It was supposed to be a lower end mid level phone. Reasonable to buy. $30 data kills that.
