Thousands of towers that Sprint OWNS. Has nothing to do with the towers/rooftops/water tanks, etc. that Sprint uses for cell locations that they rent from someone else.

But yeah, it is kinda sad. Such are the breaks when you build a 1.9GHz PCS network in the US and compete with other operators using 850MHz cellular. Signal doesn't go as far and suddenly those thousands of towers don't quite stack up to the thousands of towers the other guys have.

Nevermind. Forget the first paragraph of my previous post. Looks like it's every cell site Sprint operates.

2nd paragraph still applies.

Actually Sprint's CDMA handset use both 1.9 GHz CDMA PCS & 800 MHz CDMA, the only exception is Sprint's powersource (hybrid) handsets in which the 800 MHz band was removed and iDEN put in its place, this is why on Sprint.com the coverage map for powersource is different than that of Sprint only devices even though they both use CDMA. I would assume by the "other guys" you mean Verizon as AT&T uses GSM but what you stated is incorrect as Verizon also uses 1.9 GHz CDMA PCS & 800 MHz CDMA, check "Specifications" for any handset on Verizonwireless.com you'll clearly see they use both.

Sprint's network is every bit as good as Verizons, and vise versa.
