Clear Hard Snap on Case From Verizon

Was just wondering if anyone was using these i mean they look like a good cheap way to protect your phone was going to pick one up but kind of worried have had them on flip phones before but they scratched them all up and didnt want to put it on there and it do that and to late to do anything about it but wasnt from verizon and slid on instead of snapping on like these just wondered.

thanks for any help
I actually purchased a clear hard case for a different phone and I had a REALLY hard time getting the case to lock on to the phone. Not saying that it will be the case with the Versa (which I just purchased) but I would actually steer clear of them (...

Movies on the Versa

I have been trying to fiddle with formats to watch movies on the versa, but the only thing i can get to work is 3gp, and it only fills 2/3 of the screen. I use a Pinnacle program to record the video in mpg format in the firs place, and then use Freez3gp to format it into 3gp (as 3gp2 didnt work). anyone have better luck? I used handbrake to make a mpg4 but that was a bsut too. any help would be appreciated.
I have used Pinnacle to created videos and converted them to mp4 with WondeShare Video Converter. I set the size for 320 x 240 and then just copied the new file to my micro sd card. Video plays perfectly. Not completely full screen but close with on...

Swivel Holster Clip

Sorry if these are noob questions, just cant seem to find the answers. But on the Verizon Wireless website, they offer a swivel holster clip, does anyone happen to know if when the phone is on the clip the screen is facing outward or inward? Thanks in advance
The screen would be facing outward. I've tried holsters on previous LG models and they always seem to scratch the "chrome" that surrounds the phone.

Charger

Can anyone tell me what format charger this uses? Is it the same as the dare or is it a mini usb?
The charger is the same as on the Dare - the cord plugs into the wall charger or directly into a USB port.
BTW - the battery for the Versa is the same as the Dare.

The surprise of the Versa

I am still trying to find out why the Versa is at the high price of 199.00 when they cut back on the camera to 2mp and passed on a 3.5mm jack. Plus with the keyboard feature make the phone a quite a bit inconvenient. Plus the phone looks ugly when the attachment is on. On top of all of that the web browser is slower on this phone than with the dare. I would figure that this would be a 99.99-129.00 range not 199.00. Let me know what all of you guys think. Thanks again.
Well I can tell you this! At first-loved the Versa then started to have problems with it. I was on my 2nd Versa phone and the darn thing was stuck--couldn't flip it or turn it side ways! I was really disappointed! I decided that the phone was way too ...

Bluetooth problems

I have a first generation Macbook and have had trouble pairing my Versa with it.

I go through all the steps, but the computer is unable to determine what my phone can and can't do. I'm not sure if this is a computer or phone issue.

I am able to transfer stuff from my phone to the computer no problem, but the other way around just doesn't work.

Does Verizon put something on the phone to prohibit transferring from your computer to phone so you have to buy their music, wallpapers, etc.?

Fragile Hinge?

Well the dreaded day arrived, the first, but inevitable, drop of the new phone. Everything still works fine mind you, and there are no scuffs or anything. But the hinge opens about halfway and stops, you give just a tad more force and it makes a popping sound and unfolds all the way. It's hardly broken, just obnoxious that a single drop would do that... plus with no outside blemishes I don't understand how the internals of the hinge were screwed up!

Calendar?

Can anyone comment on the calendar feature of this phone? Is it decent or just the standard cell phone fare? Someone posted a review saying they actually use this calendar, and I'd like more details from anyone...
The lack of decent calendar functions is my primary reason for hating most dumbphones. Thanks in advance.

Touch Key Pad Problem When Using Calendar

Can someone try something for me? I'm trying to figure out if this phone has a bug with the calendar or was it operator error. I use the onboard touch keypad instead of the qwerty Keypad, in fact, the qwerty Keypad is not even attach to my phone.

When I create an event in the calendar, I was having trouble entering text in the subject field using the onboard touch keypad in landscape mode. I can enter any text in the first and second rows of text, but as soon as I touch anything in the last two rows, it will return the screen back to the "New Event" screen with is the previous screen. If I rotate my phone back to portrait, all is fine and I'm able to enter any this way, of course, that means you will have to enter text the old fashion way...

Yes, my phone does the same thing in calendar using the qwerty keyboard - pressing any of the keys in the lower 2 rows (including Shift) causes the event to go back as if you were beginning the event description. Portrait entering works fine.

I have my keyboard completely off, and i tried all the buttons on my phone in landscape mode in the create calendar event, and didn't experienced any of the mentioned problems you had. And it saved like it was supposed to as well...

No WiFi No Buy!

The failure to include WiFi connectivity cripples this CDMA phone's potential for people who need to be able to use it with Skype in most overseas destinations. &*)_!!!
Alot of Verizon's phones/pda's have wi-fi but the block it. So you end up buying there internet service.
So this isn't the best choice for you. For me a great up grade. I don't need the internet at this point. Love my Dare but some of the extra's it...

Is there even a BREW version of Skype?

This isn't a smartphone. It isn't intended to BE a smartphone. Phones that are not smartphones don't come with wifi. Why are you expecting it?

honestly, i would rather NOT have WiFi. i like my identity to be my own and not someone elses thank you. do you know how NOT secure WiFi is? of course, i have a BB so i use the VZW browser. WiFi? seriously...
Even if it had wifi, the phone would not support downloading an app like Skype. It will only support GIN apps, so you'd be SOL anyhow...

And I also don't know why nobody is every willing to pay for any of the services they want to use. The world ...

Really a Touch Screen?

Hey all,

I'm wondering if this phone is really a true touch screen, or if you have to push while touching like the Dare? (at least that's how I understand the Dare is based on the reviews I read?)

Thanks
I'm not quite clear what you mean by "push while touching" unless you're talking about the BlackBerry Storm, but the Versa is indeed a touch screen.
...
the dare and versa, along with treos and 6800's and touch pro, touch diamond. they are all touch screens. there are 2 types of touch screen, capasitive, and resistive.

now here is the real issue: Dare or Versa?

I have not yet bought either but have played with the Dare considerably. I have found that the Dare seems to be good especially for the camera. Versa is 2.0 MP Dare is 3.2. Both seem to take good pictures, but the Dare seems to edge out in this category. I can go on, but I am sure many others will. I found good faith in all of you guys before, and am asking it again. So what do you think....Dare or Versa? thanks ;)
I went out and got the Dare when it came out last summer and it's the first LG I have owned and love it! The Versa has a lot of new features it's just what you need is the question. I may pick up the Versa and throw the Dare on Ebay. Have to try the V...

i have read the versa supports flash. and i know it has a multi-tab web browser. so does the phone support flash for the ui, or actual flash, like youtube.

anyone own the phone and can confirm it supports flash?
It does indeed support some flash. the full youtube site works for example (i.e. not just the mobile youtube site). however, it is not full flash support but a subset known as Flash Lite (v3 iirc)

Versa Ringer

When the phone rings does it ascend? just checking because i have gotten rid of 2 samsung phones and an lg because it starts off low and gets louder, but takes too long to do get loud. Since im on call where i work i need to be able to hear it ring at 2am in a dead sleep. I realize that some cell phone companies are putting it on their to save ears from being blown out, but why not let the user change it...have it be an option, not a reason for some customers to bring their phones back
My Dare has many different ringers and haven't ever heard that one.

As long as the telcos pay for the equipment.....

.....it will not have WiFi.

Think about it. The phone company is subsidizing the price of the phone big-time. Are they going to give you the ability to get free Internet and make free VOIP calls?

Of course not. Devices like this are heavily discounted so you'll get one and get a data plan, pay for voice calls and pay for International Roaming.

By the way, even though this is a CDMA device, It still works in 44 countries, including:

Canada
Mexico
Japan
China
India

And just about every Carribean country. So it's not accurate to say it doesn't work overseas. Yes, it doesn't work in Europe, but there are many places it will.

I'll let you know, I have it ordered, been waiting on a different phone, hopefully its good, but if not, I can get some sucker for 200 more then I paid.
Not everyone wants an iPhone because it's not very good as smart phones go...

Heck, my versa (a dumbphone) has better bluetooth capabilities than the iPhone does...
