I tried too, I was told that since I am the unlimited message package. I would be charged ETF for each line I cancelled. Was told you can cancel if you pay by the message. On an other note is there anyway around a deposit for additional line? Anyone have some ideas I can try.

As far as deposits, i don't think so. As far as getting out of a contract because of messaging, that is petty ridiculous stuff. It is not in the terms and conditions that you agree to when you purchase. It is an additional feature. I doubt they would let you out if you complained when ring tones went up. If you are sending enough text messages that this will impact you negatively you should have a bundle in the first place. Grow up!

I went through this a few years ago with VZW when they raised their price by a couple bucks for voice service. It was a pain but in the end they had to wave the ETF.

You can't compare voice service and messaging.

Voice Plan=Contract
Texting=Non-Contract Feature

Plus where are you going to go? All the major contracted carriers are pretty much the same when it comes to per-message rates. Though if you live in the right areas, Virgin Mobile and MetroPCS sound like good deals.

It's very simple really, but hard to implement because people are idiots. Basically all you have to do to get the texting rates down, is to simply call the provider, cancel the service and don't text. If enough people did it, the price would be lowered.

Texting costs providers practically nothing to provide. I once read in a Verizon memo that it costs the company something like a penny to transmit the message if that. There is an old saying in retail, what ever the traffic will bare. Enough people get rid of the extra, stopped texting, watch what happens!

Cancel your messaging plan, wait a few days/week and then try again. LoL.. Worth a shot! In a side note. they are letting some people out of their contracts because of the text message increase. Even a few with the text plans. Your best bet is to try again without a text message plan. But still, i looked at the alternatives, and all the other carriers would cost me a lot more in the end than t-mobile. So, yeah. I would have 3g and everything, but it would end up costing me TONS more than what im paying now! I will live with my crappy edge connection. 5 lines will just cost a fortune with another carrier.

OMG people! 🙄

I get tired of pointing out this stuff, so read this:

Seriously, read your Terms and Conditions, or at least the points that would effect you most. They're not there too entertain you. Sheesh! 🙄
