Tethering with the Propel A767?

Is it possible to use the Samsung Propel (A767) as an 3G modem, like many other phones, and let me laptop get a internet connection through this phone?

If so, could someone send me a link to a doc or web page that explains how to set the connection up? I have hunted around but haven't found anything yet.

Thanks!

Loading Apps (J2ME)

Has anyone tried loading custom J2ME apps to this phone? I would like to know if this is possible straight from my computer via USB cable to this phone. I have developed some for my Computer Science classes, and would love to try them out for real.
Since all "Smartphones" now require a ~ $30/mo extra charge for data service package, I am looking for a phone that allows loading apps without the "smartphone" requirement. Will the Propel let me do this?

Thanks,
-K

Voicemail Server Number

I was just wondering - I can't seem to enter in my voicemail # for the "one-touch" connection... is there a key sequence, perhaps? My retailer/provider can't seem to figure it out either (?!)

Any suggestions?
I thought it was default to (1) on all AT&T and I guess other phones?

Email?

If I set up my Yahoo! email account through this phone, will I be charged for use of data every time I check/send email, or is it checked over the 3G network. I do not plan on adding a data plan to my regular voice/text plan and I was wondering if I would be charged if I set up the email. Thanks in advance!

Thanks!

Comparison

I currently have the Samsung A737 slider and I'm thinking about getting the Propel. I was wondering if the layout and function of the Propel was pretty much the same as the 737?
it is almost identical, i believe the only difference is obviously the qwerty keyboard, and gps!!! good phone!!! 😉

Message Ringtones?

So I have the Samsung A727, and it's an okay phone, the keys are kind of hard to text on and the biggest problem I have with it is that I can't change the text message ringtone from the default options that the phone comes with. I read somewhere that you have to have .mmf files.

I'm thinking about getting the Propel, as I really like everything else about the samsung but am hoping that is more like the 737 (small slider) as opposed to the 727.

Can you set ringtone files for text messages? or for individual callers??
No, sorry.

Great Review

the phone seems ok but I'm really glad you put the part in there about the compatibility to MAC- you should do that for all the reviews!
I'm currently using this device. I really have nothing bad to say about this device. Before the Propel I was using two blackberry's...I find the Propel very easy to use. Out of the all the quick messaging devices that At&t has in their line-up this...

First Review?

I know this is way off topic, but I couldn't help but notice this review was done by Stewart Wolpin. Is he new to Phonescoop? I never heard of him before.
Must be... he said that ATT Navigator was a free service... try $10 bucks a month

Pales in comparison to the Motorola HINT

Motorola HINT is a similar form factor; but even more compelling and feature rich.

agreed...

...'In a massive oversight, there's no pre-configured option for Gmail, and there doesn't seem to be a way to add an email domain not on the list, such .Mac for Apple or any other personalized domain...'

reject list

if you add a number to the reject list will this also prevent that person from sending you text messages?

music player?

does anyone know if this phone is a good music player? can you download music from your computer to the phone with ease?
ya....micro SD is very general when uploading music. the best thing to do is get a jumpdrive with a micro sd slot and plug it to the usb and upload using windows media. the speaker is pretty good on it. also offers stereo bluetooth.

Not bad, Samsung!

I was kinda weary about the phone at first, but when I got one in my hands and tried the keyboard, it's much better then the Blackjack 2! The only thing about messaging I'll miss from my Q is the threaded msgs on WM6.1, but that's not such a big deal. So far, I'm impressed!

Looks like..

the blackjack 2 and A737 had a baby.
with a Blitz chromosome.

Nasty.
at least it LOOKS like the qwerty keyboard is a TAD bit wider than the Palm Centro, which is too cramped. That's why I liked the Palm Treo 680 better before moving on to an iPhone. 😁 (don't like the BJ or any other Widows phone, had the Moto Q) :evi...
