anyone have idea idea what they will do with unicel call centers/employees, technology- since unicel is primarily gsm.. any info would be awesome, since im a worried unicel employee.

yeah, the network will be up and running, but will they need a call center? My guess would be that all customer service issue would go through verizon after this buyout is complete.

Look at the bright side...It took Verizon 6 months to complete the acquistion of a small 30K sub carrier last year, so you can imagine it will take almost a year(from now) to complete this deal, which should give you plenty of time to polish your resume and start interviewing. The only downside is the local Alexandria market cannot be full of jobs, unless you want to work in farming, am I correct? The big bad 800 pound gorilla is taking over the world!

I've been in the wireless game since the mid 90's: AMPS; TDMA; GSM; CDMA; EDGE/BREW; etc. WWC; RCC; T-Mo; P-Tel; etc. Been a CSR; OP's sup; CC Mgr; Sales Manager; Regional Manager; Analyst; and QA mgr. I've worked in most areas of wireless and have a good idea of what may happen. I am no expert; I just play one on TV.
The call centers for RCC are small and not always easy to get to (image traveling from NYC to Bend, Or quickly and not in a private jet!); a major carrier will not keep small regional call centers open long- they cost too must in the big picture: to have redundancy, as such, in small outlying areas that need supporting, both locally (like needing to have local HR, offices, etc) and nationally is hard to justify. thanks for the info Z. when i posted my concerns we didnt have any info. we (employees) walked in and opened an email and there it was. yeah, of course im concerned for my job, but still this could be the opportunity to get out of maine. bangor is ok, but i think the boston area might be better 🙂
