Phone wont completely boot - shuts down

I have a VX-9100 that will not run on battery, when plugged in to USB battery charges. When powering on I can get to the menu screen and then it shuts down. The phone has been condemned by Verizon claiming that it has gotten wet. (the little indicator under the battery is pink not white). The micro SD card is removed, I assume it was transferred to the new Samsung to activate the same number on that phone. admittedly, it did get damp (not dropped in water) dried off immediately and worked after the event. I am simply trying to power it up long enough to extract the photos and contacts. 1) does it need to have an sd card to power up? 2) any suggestions on forcing it to stay on? 3) if it got wetter then we thought, since we have nothing to lo...

For no obvious reason it stared working again. was able to transfer photos to a blank micro sd and using other advise found here sent 175 contacts to a retired Blackberry via Bluetooth

Voice Mail password

When I receive a voice mail and attempt to listen, I am always asked for my password. Is there someway to turn off the password feature and just get my voice mail with one click? And how do you enter # on the internal keyboard? It has not worked for me yet.

Problems with charging port

Had this phone for about a year and it was handed down to me from a user who had it for a year. I am having a problem with the charging port. It started acting up with the wall charger, where I'd have to put pressure on the connector to maintain the charge. Now it won't charge from the wall charger but can, with some cord adjusting, charge with the car charger. I cleaned the contacts with alcohol on all connectors, but still have no results with the wall charger. The wall charger works fine in another LG phone. I checked with Verizon and they said there is no fix. I thought a power mat might work, but I could not find anything. Other than that, this has been a good phone, but it is out of warranty. Has anybody been having this problem and fo...

Pictures/videos won't save to card?

I'm having a problem with saving pictures/videos to my enV2's external memory stick. I use a SanDisk 2gb Micro SD card. My phone will save pictures/videos to it's internal memory fine, but won't save to the card.

When I save enough to the phone's internal memory card, it gives me the option to switch to the card for memory. I do. However, whenever I take a picture/video and attempt to save it, it will show the "saving" screen for a few seconds, followed by a screen exactly like the "saving" screen that says "failed."

I know the card works; I have music on it that I can play on my phone, and at a pretty fast speed, too. It only happens with pictures and videos.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Is anyone else experiencing this? Coul...

Getting pictures off the Evn2

OK, so this phone comes with a nice camera. However, Verizon does not make it easy to get the pictures off the phone. The only way, according to Verizon, is to picture text your picture to the VZW website, where you have a folder of all your pictures online. What a pain in the butt and of course, a ripoff because you have to send a text for each picture.

So instead, I purchased a USB cable off ebay for the phone and connected in to my computer. Even after downloading driver from Verizon, it doesn't work. Apparently, you need software to sync contacts and get pictures off the phone this way.

Does anyone have a link to free software that will do this? Where you simply can plug the USB into your computer, a file folder opens up, and...

There is no software required, nor is it necessary to send your pictures through Verizon's website. After a bit of experimentation, I wrote the following for my own needs last October:

That annoying green link in my message above wasn't my doing. It was automatically created by this website.
Dammit. It did it again.
The easiest way I have found to get any picture off of any phone is to send it as a picture message to your email account. Quick, simple, free (if you have text/pic messaging).

Phone Lock

Am I doing something wrong here? On the internal keypad I bring up the menu and hit 9 6 6 enter 4 digit security code then press 4 (Lock Phone Now). It says phone locked and I can do nothing on the internal keypad (as I would suspect). But when I close the phone I can make any kind of call that I want, even though the external screen says Locked. I thought the only thing that I was supposed to be able to do was receive calls. If this is the way it is supposed to work it doesn't make much sense to lock the phone. Thanks for any insight.
That is not how it should be working. You're locking it the correct way, at least the way I do it. It shouldn't allow calls to be placed while locked.

Bluetooth Headset Issues

I've been using a Blueant x3 for months with no issues, but in the last week, my phone has gone crazy. The battery is unpredictable and my headset won't stay connected. I contacted Blueant and their suggestions helped me to connect the device again, but it disconnected almost immediately. I was able to pair the device with my husband's phone no problem, so I think the issue is my phone. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Any suggestions? Am I off to Verizon for a replacement?
Thanks!
I am having these same issues, but with a Motorola H710 bluetooth. The H710 links up just fine With my Blackberry. When I do get the Env2 to link up to it, it won't stay linked. It sometimes will show that is still linked, but if I try a call, it won'...

Ringers for text messages

Does the enV2 allow you to set different ringers for people for text messages? Say I have 5 friends that send me text messages on a regular basis. Is it possible to set each of them up with a different ringer/alert for when they send me a text message?

Contacts transfer via Bluetooth

Is there a way to transfer my contacts from my old (now de-activated) VX9800 (yes, the original V) to my enV2 via Bluetooth? I have a cable for my V and have exported my contacts, ringtones, etc. to my laptop. My laptop has a BT card and I was able to add the enV2 to the devices list, but I'm not sure how to transfer my contacts. BitPim, however, will not recognize the phone. It isn't in their list of supported phones, but I figured that choosing the enV would be close enough.

I know that I can e-mail myself a ringtone at xxxxxxxxxx@vzwpix.com and save the sound as a ringer. Picture/Video/Sound messages are pay-per for me, so this isn't the most economic way to transfer ringers.

I'd buy a cable, but who wants to deal with that shi...

Screen goes blank

I just bought 2 of the enV2 phones for my family account, and I see that the outside screen blanks out after a minute of non-use. I mean totally blanks out. This is different from any of the clamshell phones I've ever owned. So now when I'm at work and turn the bell all the way down (I have to do that in my office), if I get a call or text and miss it when it comes, because I'm away from my desk or just don't see the phone when it's ringing, when I get back to my desk I can't tell by glancing at the phone that there's a call or message waiting for me, unless I touch a button on the phone and bring the screen back to life. Is this normal? With all the other phones I've owned you could still read the screen when the back-light was off, but not...

order of pics

So I finally got around to getting the software update. One thing I noticed it did was the put all of my pics into alphabetical order (though oddly z-a, then numbers). I thought great, now they are more organized that before with the order being the date the pic was on the phone. Well, it worked for a little bit...now when I take pics and rename them, they stay in the same place they were before, just like before the update.

Anyway to get this to put them in alphabetical order (a-z or z-a) all the time?!

Music as Ringtones

I bought a 2 gig SD card for my phone, and I've added music to the my_sounds folder in the card. The only problem is I can't figure out how to set them as ring-tones. I've tried putting the songs in the media folder and the my_music folder with no luck there either. Here are my folder options:
media
my_flix
my_pix
my_music
my_sounds

Can anyone help me out here? thanks!
Kazzy,

The only way i have found to do this is by sending yourself a text with the 'my sound' file included, and when you get the text, save the file as a ringtone.....kind of a pain, but it works.
One easy way of doing it is to record a voice note recording the song that you want to be your ringtone and set that as the ringtone. If that doesn't work you could also record a video of the song you want and make that your ringtone.

Both are a bi...

I use the calendar on my phone alot and it always defaults to an alarm to notify you of an entry. I know you can change it to none. Is there a way to change the phone setting so it will default to none instead of a time????
I don't believe it's possible from the phone, but maybe by accessing the file system with BitPim. But the files in the file system are way too cryptic for me to figure out.

NON'-EXISTANT VIBRATE MODE

Wow, i'm assuming there will be no software fix for this problem, since it's most likely a weak vibrate motor(mechanical deficiancy). Only way to feel it is to hold it in your bare hands.
I feel the vibration very well in my leather belt clip holster. I have my enV² set to vibrate and ring simultaneously too.

It won't shake the house, but it vibrates just fine (for me).

ring and vibrate

Before I call Verizon, I want to ask you guys if this is a problem with your ENV2's. I know how to turn vibrate mode on, but when I do that's all it does. It won't ring also. And when I have vibrate mode off, but still have my alerts set to vibrate, it won't vibrate. I had the Voyager before this phone, and never had a problem with it doing both. So is everyone's phone ringing and vibrating together? Or is it one or the other?
