HTC U.S. Confirms No More Updates for One X, X+
Has anyone owned an HTC Device and not felled screwed?
Has there been any HTC device launched in the last 2 years that didn't feel like a red-headed stepchild 6 months after ownership? The OneX was supposed to be their "We're gonna do things right" flagship, and the OneX+ was supposed to be the supercharged follow-up.
If they can't keep these updated through the life of a contract, what can they get right?
Just some perspective:
The iPhone 4S launched over 24 months ago and is still supported with the latest software updates. Not all features have trickled down, but the core API's, etc. have.
The HTC One X+ Launched 14 months ago, was abandoned in under 12 months. As a result, the iPhone 4S is worth about 5 times what an HTC One X+ is if you do a trade-in nowadays.

Actually yes. I had the HTC Thunderbolt and it was very good. Now I have the HTC One/M7 and I love it. I'm just waiting for AT&T to release the HTC One Max. But the best HTC phone that a lot of people like or did like is the:

After owning the AT&T One X(L), I know well that feeling of being screwed. What this announcement amounts to is an unofficial declaration by HTC that they don't intend to support their devices for even the duration of a contract. If you get a year, count yourself lucky. Their behavior with the One X(L) is precisely why I won't buy another HTC product. I simply don't trust them. The GS3 was dropped to 99¢ on contract, and Samsung still got it at least one more update. And may even have another. Shame.
They don't make the contracts, the providers do? You the a 1 year warranty. That's all they guarantee. They make no money from updating phones that are passed end of life. They know most of the people who bought the phone in 2012 will be changing ...

Its not only HTCs fault, there is a lot that they have to coordinate with the carrier in order to release a new update. Don't blame your 2 year contract on the device manufacturer, blame it on your carrier. Manufacturers offer a 1 year warranty (and you knew that when you got the phone) why they would be oblige to offer support after the warranty is over? You guys name the iphone, but that is just one phone made by apple and no other manufacturer can use IOS. If IOS was allowed in more devices, we would probably see the same pattern. Your options are, either get a nexus phone, or a google play edition phone, or go back to IOS. We all know that Android phones probably won't have more than 2 major updates, and most of us expect that when buyin...
