An 'update' that cripples the phone's functionality....and they are bundling that together with Jelly Bean so that people will have to accept it if they want the newest Android.
But I don't blame Google, no, they are only abiding by the law, I blame Apple. Thanks Apple, you freaking jerks.
...
Why would it cripples the phones functionality?
...
It removes a basic feature....after this update, you will no longer be able to search the phone from the home screen....less functionality, fewer features is not an 'update'.....it is retrogression.
...
I never use that feature, I think I can live with out it.
...
Just because you don't use the feature doesn't mean that other people don't find that feature useful. I use it and it comes in handy. Apple is just doing what microsoft did 15 years ago by stealing tech and then suing the pants off everybody over something as petty as searching the phone memory from the home screen.
...
The version of this for PC's would asserting a patent for doing a search of the PC memory from the 'menu'....which of course is the most convenient place for such a feature, and is exactly where one would expect to find it.
Searching the phone memory is OBVIOUS functionality, it is just adding something to phones that has been on PC's for decades...and putting the search on the home screen is the most obvious and convenient place to put it.
Taking an obvious feature and putting it in the most obvious place is not something that Apple, or anyone else, should be allowed to 'patent'....
Or maybe I can claim a patent on the idea of putting the lock on a car door on the outside of the door...you know...instead of the inside where you can...

I agree I can't stand the Iphone and I have had two of them. I prefer the android os much more.

If that was the case, then Fords might be the only cars on the road. That is a world I do NOT want to imagine.
Apple is being pretty ridiculous with their patents, and their patent claims. Apple obviously did not invent that functionality, they've actuially invented very little.
Tablets were on Star Trek for a long, long, LONG time before apple released the iPad. They invent nothing.
...
The tablet used by Nurse Chapel in Star Trek, is one of many props that made scientists develope real functional products. I often refer to the Linus write-top as the first tablet back in the early 80's while not as advanced, it was able to detach from the base station for portability. Poor sales contributed to the end of further developement. The large scale offering of tablets would be through the use of delivery drivers from UPS, FedEx and trucking companies for major vendors long before the iPad.
I like to joke that Steve Jobs totally ripped off the tablet idea from Ohio Arts' Etch n Sketch. An culmination by a French inventor named Andre' Cassagnes . After all, it was in essense, the first tablet with a functional screen.
