Apple today announced that the next system update for iOS devices will be available for download starting October 12. iOS 5 for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch adds a number of new features, including revised push notifications across iOS devices via Wi-Fi and 3G, iMessage, better camera tools and lock screen camera shortcut, tabbed browsing, Twitter integration, and improvements to the email application. Apple didn't specify when on October 1 the software update would become available. Apple's new iCloud service, which helps to back-up and sync iOS devices, will also become available starting on October 12.
