Motorola today announced a new service offering for its television service providers that adds an element of mobility to the TV-watching experience. Motorola's new SocialTV Companion Service lets cable TV providers add social networking and loyalty programs to their offerings which can be accessed through mobile devices such as smartphones. Motorola explains that when watching TV, users will be able to share comments and interact with friends and family via social networks using the Motorola SocialTV Companion. It also includes games, chat, program reviews, live feeds of additional content, polls and quizzes. Motorola didn't say when end-users can expect to see SocialTV available from their service providers.
