Siemens Joins Top 5 in North America

Siemens yesterday announced major growth in its mobile phone business in the Americas. Only one year after entering the market in earnest, the company has risen to become one of the top-5 mobile phone manufacturers in North America. The company also improved its position in Latin America, with 60 percent sales growth boosting it to the number-three position in market share.

Qualcomm has revealed Snapdragon Satellite , the company's solution for connecting Android phones directly to satellites for truly global coverage. The feature uses the Iridium network, a satellite constellation that has has been in operation for 25 years.

The Long Island Railroad (LIRR) has updated its TrainTime app with real-time visualizations of how crowded each car is on each train, as well as real-time train locations updated every three seconds. Commuters in New York City can use the app to position themselves on the platform so they'll board a less-crowded car when their train arrives, helping riders practice social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
